Irish Breakdown

After a bye week the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are back at it this weekend! To kick off game week we had a Notre Dame Mailbag! It was jam packed with a lot of questions! This is part one of this week's mailbag. We had a lot of non-Notre Dame coaching questions in part one, especially about the open Texas A&M job.

Should Notre Dame ride with Sam Hartman to close the season or go with a younger option? Irish Breakdown discusses that subject on today's show. We also discuss whether they should go to the transfer portal for the third time in four years to find a starting quarterback for next season.

There's no doubt that Notre Dame's 2023 campaign will be considered a disappointment. At best the Irish can finish just one game better than it did a season ago. The chances at a playoff berth were dashed in October, and the NY6 chances were gone the first weekend of November. Notre Dame needs to bounce back and finish strong, and that goes beyond just beating two bad teams and winning a bowl game.

In this show we break down what it means for Notre Dame to finish strong as a team, and especially on offense.

Rapid Fire topics include:

*Sam Hartman has 18 touchdown passes this season. How many will he have at the end of the regular season?

* Thoughts on Marcus Freeman saying Sam Hartman's pick-6 throw against Clemson "spooks you".

* How do we feel about Notre Dame's next two games against Wake Forest and Stanford?

* Should the Penn State - Michigan game be played in prime time instead of at noon?

* How strongly do we think Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia and Florida State will be the four College Football Playoff teams?

* Fill-in the blank...It’s BLANK that Notre Dame freshman point guards Markus Burton and Hannah Hidalgo both scored the most points ever for an Irish freshman in their debut games Monday night.

IB discusses whether the Notre Dame staff should make decisions to start building for the future and playing younger players, or do whatever it takes to win out.
