Rapid Fire topics include:

* What's the concern level with Notre Dame's offense after scoring a combined 35 points against Ohio State and Duke?

* NC State is changing quarterbacks, going from Brennan Armstrong to MJ Morris. Does it change the way you feel about Notre Dame’s win over the Wolfpack?

* Isaiah Foskey led the Irish with 11 sacks last season. Do you Buy or Sell Notre Dame’s top two sack leaders combining for at least that many by the time this season is over?

* Alabama plays Texas A&M this weekend and will also face Arkansas and Tennessee this month. A loss to any of those teams would give Nick Saban two losses before the end of October for the first time since his first season in 2007. Do you Buy or Sell Alabama winning all three of those games?

* Fill-in the blank: It’s BLANK that Deion Sanders says he wouldn’t want a lifetime contract if Colorado offered it.

* Fill-in the blank: The Chase Claypool situation with the Chicago Bears is BLANK.

* Thoughts on Pat McAfee on College Game Day going after Washington State fans.

* Paul Burmeister's Notre Dame radio calls.

* Why pay big time game announcers so much money?

Irish Breakdown is answering listener/subscriber questions on today's show and special guest host Shaun Davis joins Sean Stires to do the answering. Today's questions include:

* Thoughts on what to look for on both sides of the ball from Notre Dame against Louisville this weekend.

* Confidence Notre Dame will get commitments from Chris Burgess and Talyn Taylor.

* How will the Irish manage player rest as they prepare for their seventh and eighth straight games over the next two weeks?

* Will Braylon James or Nolan Ziegler play in the next two weeks?

* Thoughts on Tobias Merriweather's development and Chansi Stuckey's coaching.

* Why doesn't Sam Hartman use play action passes more?

* Who's our favorite Notre Dame player to watch in the NFL?

* Can Notre Dame flip the commitment of Justin Scott?

Notre Dame knows who its quarterback is for 2023, but after that things get a little fuzzy. Does Notre Dame go back to the portal again in 2024, or do they develop the quarterbacks they have, especially with CJ Carr coming into the program in the spring. I discuss this topic as the final portion of the Midweek Rundown. That is followed by a brief mailbag.

Going on the road and earning wins against good teams - which Louisville is - requires certain players step up their game. In this portion of the Notre Dame Midweek Rundown, I look at the offensive players and defensive players that must step up and thrive against Louisville.

Notre Dame has had one of the best pass defenses in college football this season, but they face arguably their biggest test of the season so far when they head to Louisville this weekend. The Cardinals have a lot of speed and Jeff Brohm is a great offensive mind. That's the lead topic in this breakdown of the Notre Dame defense vs the Louisville offense.

Notre Dame's pass game got off to a red hot start, but it struggled in the last two games. Against a Louisville squad with a somewhat susceptible pass defense, the Irish throwing game needs to get back on track in a hurry.

The first half of Marcus Freeman's tenure at Notre Dame didn't go very well. The Irish went 3-3 to open his career as the Irish head coach, and it included bad losses to Stanford and Marshall, but Notre Dame was much, much better in the second half of the season. As we enter the second half of his second season, we're left to wonder, will the Irish again make a much bigger jump in the second half of the season? If they do, the Fighting Irish will be very, very good.
