Kam concludes our study of Ruth by discussing the book's last chapter. In this finale, Boaz officially becomes the kinsman redeemer of Ruth and Naomi, he marries Ruth, and they have a son named Obed.  The sermon emphasizes the doctrine of adoption as part of Jesus's story and as part of our calling as the church.  Ruth's story was used by the Lord to adopt Jesus into the lineage of David, which shows the importance of caring for the orphans, widows, and foreigners, and displays how God's mercy and planning are at work in all of our stories.

Dustin continues our sermon series this week with Ruth 3, in which Ruth asks Boaz to be her kinsman redeemer. This passage serves as a reminder that we ourselves are in need of redeemer and have been offered one in Christ.

Wrapping up the 5-month series on the Sermon on the Mount, Kam emphasizes the importance of building your life on the foundation of Jesus’ words and warns against believing in a cultural “false Jesus” that is not the Jesus of the Bible.

In the penultimate message of our Sermon on the Mount series, Kam discusses the two choices Jesus offers in this passage: a wide road or a narrow gate.  One path costs nothing and the other costs everything.  Kam also echoes the warning of Jesus here against false teachers, calling on the church to use discernment about our sources of spiritual guidance.

Kam preaches this week on only one verse:  Matthew 7:12 - the golden rule. Though a singular statement, this command by Jesus is the summation of the law and a standard of perfect benevolence we can never truly attain. Through our failure in achieving this pinnacle of selflessness, we are reminded of our need for the Lord’s grace in loving others as we would love ourselves.

This week, Kam preaches on Jesus’ call for His people to pray boldly. Though we are not guaranteed a “yes” to every request, we are told to pray earnestly to our loving Father and are promised that He will always hear and answer with what is ultimately best for us.
