Mike and Dan discuss the waiving of Pierre Engvall (and others) ahead of the Islanders' season opener this week against the Utah Sister Wives. Putting Engvall and the six years left on his contract on waivers was a bold move by Lou Lamoriello but it illustrates just how the team has changed and how Engvall's signature brand of ineffectiveness can't be tolerated any more. The guys who "beat him out" for the jobs aren't on solid ground, either, but for now, they have the gig. In the second half, they "preview" the game against the NHL's most focused-group new team and the follow up game against Cup hopeful Dallas. Then we get into our Super Specific Predictions for the Islanders and the NHL, which speculates goal totals, articles written, contracts extended and more.
