Richard Lowenberg has works over 40 years in the areas of integrated media arts, urban-rural community planning, energy and telecommunications infrastructure and economic modeling and info/ecosystems understandings. Richard founded the 1st-Mile Institute and its New Mexico ' Broadband for All ' Initiative, in Fall 2006, to provide advocacy, education and demonstration work on solving the rural networked society economic and digital divide problems. On the show today we are blessed to have Larry Schriver, one of the owners of Country Connections, as well as one of the Board Members of WISPA and is the WISPA Secretary. County Connections purchase the assets of In-Touch Internet Service on November 1 2008. In-Touch Internet Service started serving customers in 2001, and by 2008 was serving approximately 300 paying customers. When Country Connections bought the company it came with three employees. The company today is an LLC with two owners. Mark Stephenson is the Chief Engineer. He has a Master ' s Degree in Electrical Engineering and has worked for the Air Force or related industry. He did his senior research project on radio frequencies. He is currently working as a senior analysis for Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Cyber Technology. In the past he has workd on development of software for the the Air Force. Larry Schriver has a degree in Agriculture Economics. His background has been in business management and sales. The 12 years previous to forming Country Connections, Larry started and an insurance agency from the ground up. Currently Lary oversees the General Management of the company, does the marketing and public relations work for Country Connections. Country Connections currently has one part time employee who oversees the network administration and routing. Country Connections has a payroll of 10 full time employees. The company now serves about 1700 customers and covers over 2200 square miles from south of Columbus Ohio, west to a line between Xenia and Wilmington Ohio. What does Larry see in the future? When County Connections bought into the WISP industy we said we had five years to grow our business and get out. Today I still see five years of strong opportunity for future growth. The wireless industry has shown that we can adapt to the market with increases in speeds, improved up time and the ability to respond quickly to customer concerns.
