It Was Found In My Heart

 John takes us to where it all begins.

Besides being one of my favorite books, John’s opening line always interest me because it starts with the same line that is in Genesis 1:1…”In the beginning…” There are several topical connections between the two that in some ways mirror each other. From John’s perspective we get to know and see Jesus from an interesting point of view, so let’s see what can be found in our hearts, Line upon Line!

"When they go low, we go high."  This is a phrase coined by the Obama family during their White House term when they were helping their daughters to navigate their new life in the spotlight and how to deal with haters and bullies.  The phrase may have been coined by the Obamas, but the meaning behind the phrase is original to the Creator of heaven and earth - "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts."

Often times we look at people from the outside and lean on our own understanding and determine their destiny based on their fruit. And though sin is sin, which God has defined, we also should allow God to define, by the direction of the Holy Spirit, who is a ‘Whosoever’. This devotion was created by God reminding me of a verse that pointed to the word ‘Whosoever’. John 3:16

God will speak to us how He has created us. Whether it's parables (stories), line upon line, a verse, a single word or life events,  make no mistake, God's word is always available to those who want to hear Him. Do you? How does God make His truth known to you? However it is, the Bible is the foundation, standard, and the governing factor.
 
Let's keep God out of a box, He will make Himself known to us however He chooses - He is bigger than our understanding!

The Ten Commandments aren't a bunch of rules written on a tablet but a love letter from God to be written on willing hearts to govern how to love God and how to love people as ourselves. 

Commandments that will defend us or accuse us, on the posture of our heart.

Exodus 20, Romans 2:15, 2 Corinthians 3:3, Matthew 15:17-20, and Matthew 22:37-40

Have you ever wanted to get a Personal Trainer involved with you fitness goals? You just can't seem to stay focus or diligent in your attempts to get fit.  You feel like you need someone in the trenches with you that can hold you accountable and not only accountable but guide you through what you need to do to achieve the your desired outcome.

Jesus knew that it would be necessary for us, who believes in Him, to also have such a trainer. So He sent us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Spiritual Trainer that, if we allow Him to, will help us be conformed into the image of Christ. And like any Personal Trainer, the Holy Spirit isn't a push over...He knows exactly what is needed for you to be the best you can be for the service of Christ.

Multi-tasking has become the norm in society today and our focus is spread over several things at once.  Some jobs even look to hire people who have the ability to multitask. But as a multitasker, are all the task completed equal? Can you give them all your full attention?  Or is it better to have the power of focus?
