We hit our targets really quickly, so we bought a cafe. We learn the hard way what building a business really means and we learn a lot of lessons on taking over a business.
I come to terms that I am self-sabotaging and I am trying to find a psychologist to help me understand what I am doing to myself.
The Proper Gander gains traction, and we move into our new home. We struggle with learning how to manage people. Bec excels, while I fail (but think I'm doing well). We learn about how we learnt to identify potential in the people who join our team.
I get to reminisce on the time leading up to launching Proper Gander Espresso. We sell our house and move into a friend's house for a few months while we look for a new home to buy. I lose my mining job, we launch Proper Gander and the wheels begin to turn.
Bec and I return from our trip abroad, Bec falls pregnant while we don't have a home. We buy a house, I start working in mining and we begin the process of starting The Proper Gander Espresso.
Bec and I wrap up our time in Melbourne, and head back to Kalgoorlie with the intent to travel abroad for 6 months.

I reflect on our time in Melbourne, how it was formative to our marriage and how it planted the seed of passion for Hospitality which became what our business is today.
We take a look at the influences that set Bec and I on the path toward business ownership and what really lit the fire for our journey into Business ownership.
Why add to the chatter?
I think a healthy question is to ask why add to the noise in the podcasting space. Ultimately, I see there being 3 people who could benefit from it (in order)
1. Myself - I love the act of reflecting and unpacking the day, and I want to have live documentation of the journey of us growing and growing our business instead of the events unfolding to be footnotes in a story that is reflected on in years to come.
2. My Kids and Family - When I play our journey forward, it seems as though we are going to be in quite a wealthy position in the future, and I would like to have a catalogue of what it is like to be growing business with a young family so that our kids can see what it is really like.
3. The Broader Community - I binged Start Up Podcast when we were at the beginning of our business Journey, and it was so insightful to see things unfolding in real-time instead of retrospectively. I trust that as we grow, others will be able to benefit from our story.
