  • 71. Go One More : Our Ticket to Reaching Our Inner Potential

When I’m on the last rep, of my last set of my workout of the day & I feel like giving up, I tell myself these 3 words. When I’m hitting mile 6.9 of the 7 miles I went out to run and my legs don’t feel like they have much left in them, I tell myself these 3 words. When I’m editing a podcast late in the evening after a long day of work & I just want to snuggle up & bed and pass out, I tell myself these 3 words.

    GO ONE MORE!

What defines us as humans is our ability to tune out the voice in our head that is telling us to give up & toss in the towel. What defines us as humans is our ability to push ourselves to the edge of our comfort zone… to the place we’ve never been before. What defines us as humans is our ability to go one more even when we don’t FEEL we have the juice inside us.

    Topics :

    • Why we should live by this : To help us reach our ultimate inner potential
    • How do we do that?
      • (1) We Become Our Biggest Hype man / Hype Woman : We recognize it’s OUR responsibility to cheer ourselves on even when NOBODY is on the side lines rooting for us
      • (2) We Push Ourselves To The Edge : The unimaginable becomes our norm by us pushing our inner potential further and further
      • (3) We Appreciate The Growth : We use the progress we’ve made thus far as fuel to the fire inside us
    • Question from The BMC
      • Sagar : How do you get yourself to work / concentrate when there’s external problems such as family, financial, relationship problems?

  • 69. Be Ready to Pivot : The Plan Will Be Disrupted

Are you the type of person that gets frustrated / worked up when things don’t go according to plan? Do you find yourself getting angry, stressed or anxious when you have to make changes? Our plans WILL be disrupted at some point in time, It’s part of life and we have two options when this happens : 1 - Allow it to get to us or 2 -  Adjust on the fly & keep it moving.

Today I want to talk about HOW we can start to train our minds to always be ready to pivot!

    Topics :

    • Recently have a podcast guest cancel 2 hours in advance of scheduled time
      • Old me : Would take it personal, get worked up & not make sure of the extra time
      • New me : Assesses the situation, weighed my options & pivoted accordingly
    • Three Key Ingredients to a Pivot Mindset
      • (1) We Can Only Control HOW We React To Situations : Instead of reacting to a situation… assess, weigh our options & then respond by making a thoughtful decision
      • (2) Don’t Tell Yourself a Bad Story : We love to put ourselves down by making up stories about why something didn’t go accordingly to plan SO instead tell yourself a good story and how the unexpected situation is now going to benefit you!
      • (3) Prepare Plan B Ahead Of Time : It can never hurt to be prepared for the pivot so think about what that plan B might look like so you can adjust without missing a beat
    • Challenge for the listeners
      • Next time you have to make a pivot in your life… don’t let your emotions get to you
      • Respond instead of reacting, it’s the only option you’ve got!

Is there a new habit you’ve been trying to implement but you aren’t seeing the progress you’d hope for? Maybe a new years resolution to workout more, eat a cleaner diet, start that passion project you’ve always wanted to start?

I think we all understand that NONE of our goals are going to happen overnight but yet from us consistency showing up over a short, medium or long period of time depending on the goal.

Today I’m introducing you to The Two Day Rule. This rule is going to help you stay accountable AND help you make progress!!

    Topics :

    • Discipline is my middle name

      • (1) Small Wins Are Rocket Fuel : By focusing on what I can do TODAY, it’s easier for me to show up to do the actual work
      • (2) Pick Up Where You Left Off : Giving ourselves the ability to take a day off when needed allows us to take rest when it’s necessary & not feel guilty about it
      • (3) Remind Yourself Of Where You Started : Seeing how much progress we’ve made since we started gives us an extra boost of confidence that we DO have what it takes
        • “Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.” - Bill Gates
