Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths." It's important that the Word of God not be just on the pages we read, but by God's grace, we allow it to become part of our character, so much so that we will instinctively respond through what we have learned and what we've embraced. Don't lean on your own understanding, which can lead us to acting on our lower instincts. But instead, seek the wisdom of God. Paul warned that in the last days, there will be an accumulation of knowledge without power, which has no ability to carry us when we need it the most. Even if it means the loss of popular opinion, acknowledge Him and God will lead you to His path of eternal life. It's time to pray.

Listen to the words of the apostle Paul in Philippians 4:11, "Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am to be content. I know how to be abased and I know how to abound everywhere. And in all things I've learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Most certainly the classrooms of Paul's life are not courses for which any of us would easily sign up: beaten, betrayed, abandoned, shipwrecked, disregarded, accused, imprisoned, ignored, and burdened. What in the world could come from this? Well, actually in the world-nothing. But in the Spirit, comes the experience of knowing that in Christ I can endure all things. The diploma will give you a voice that years after you are gone, people will still remember. It's time to pray.

The gospel of Mark chapter 11 verse 15 says, "So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves." The people created a system of commerce out of the failure of human effort. The money changers were profiting off the people's failure in trying to be godly in their own strength. Today the thievery of man-made religion is stealing from people, stealing the presence of God, the redemption of God and His power and His promises. It is this kind of religion that introduces human effort into a wonderful, beautiful freedom relationship that God has given us through His Son, Jesus Christ. By faith in him alone, we are justified and redeemed. May that truth be where you find your eternal hope. It's time to pray.

Revelation, chapter two, verse 13: "I know your works and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is, and you hold fast to My name and did not deny My faith, even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells." Some people seem to get an assignment to live on spiritual Easy Street. Others find themselves in the difficult district of town, often with an extended lease on Sorrow Street. You know, if you find yourself there today, God says that He will give you a hidden source of supply. Read the rest of what Jesus had to say to the people in this place. He will give you a hidden source of supply not available on Easy Street and the promise of something that He will do in your future that only you and Jesus know about. I promise you that it will become the absolute joy of your heart. It's time to pray.

I want to remind you today that you'll find that the anointing of God on your life is in opposition to the spirit of this world. The worst decision that you can make is one similar to what King David and the 600 men who followed him once made. They became so tired of being constantly opposed, they just backed away and started to make peace with the enemy. David was called to be king. He was to honor the name of God. He began to think that comfort could be found somewhere else and ultimately fell into a trap. There is no comfort in anything of this world. Don't compromise, because you'll end up on the wrong side of the battle. Don't make peace with the enemy. Get on the right side of the battle and begin to honor God. The Gospel of Matthew, chapter 3, verses 1 and 2: "In those days, John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying 'repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.'" Now, John the Baptist was calling out to a sin-sick generation that was tired of the same sin-and-confess cycle. He wanted to deal with the condition of their hearts. His message could be summarized by one word, "repent." Repent means to have a change of heart, a change of mind and direction. You've been going one way, doing things one way, and perceiving things and circumstances through a certain lens. Now, God is calling you to a new direction, one that is completely in line with His Word, His ways and led by His spirit-the Spirit at work in those who have made Jesus Christ their Lord. It's a simple path to true freedom. To get there you have to begin with prayer. It's time to pray.

Psalm 23:4, "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me." Some people's lives, like Psalm 23, are such a sweet song. You know, at times we ask, why does verse four have to come along and ruin my song? Well, actually it doesn't. Verse four is a bridge in your life song between early innocence and deeper understanding. After verse four we learn that death is only a shadow. It has no power. Passing through it, we feast before powerless enemies. We realize that goodness and mercy will keep us forever, and the temple of God will be our eternal home. Don't let verse four ruin a great song. It's time to pray.

Psalm 22, verse 24, "For he has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, nor has he hidden his face from him. But when he cried to him, he heard." You know, some people wonder where God is. They think, "I'm praying, I'm reading the Word and I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do. But where is God?" Sometimes we can't understand the power of the cross at work in us while there's still a measure of our own strength left. It's the mercy of God that brings you and I to the end of ourselves so that realistically, it's all Him or nothing. What you are now are experiencing is so much bigger than what you understand. We all love the mountain top, but I've found that it's in the valley that we learn who God really is. It's in those moments that the whisper of God comes into our hearts to show us how faithful he really has been. No matter how you're feeling today, call out to him now. He will answer you. It's time to pray.

Psalm 22:1, King David says these words, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me? And from the words of My groaning, Oh My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; and in the night season, and am not silent." Have you ever felt forsaken? Have you felt so alone that nobody could hear the cries of your heart? You know you are not alone. David felt what you do, and even Jesus called out these words from the cross. What we learn from those who have gone before us is that when we've come to an end, God is just beginning to show his power through our lives. Read the rest of Psalm 22, and then let your cries be turned to a cry of hope for tomorrow. David said, "You have answered me. I will declare your name to my brethren; in the midst of the assembly I will praise you." It's time to pray.

When God visits us in a powerful way, it's because He's trying to draw us out and to encourage us to believe for something that only He can do. Often, He does it in a time when we have recognized our own weakness. A time when we recognize that if anything is going to happen in this generation, it's not going to be by my might, not by my power, but only by the Spirit of God. God is able to move in my weakness when we come before Him with an honest heart and with an honest prayer.
