God spoke to Moses and revealed himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He did not say that he was the God of Abram. He revealed that he is the God of Abraham, he is the God of Abraham’s ideal state. But God doesn’t say that he is the God of Israel (ideal state) in this moment. He says that he is the God of Jacob. He is the God of the process. He is the God of the struggle. We cannot understand him being the God of Israel until we first understand that he will always be the God of Jacob.
