The buddy-comedy genre is declining in quantity and quality, so when a picture like this comes out, it piques my curiosity. Keke Palmer and SZA play the "buddies in trouble" (i.e., getting evicted), and I liked seeing them play off each other. The same day also includes a job interview, a crazed woman out for revenge, the duo looking for methods to earn quick money, a white neighbor giving odd assistance, an angry mobster, and so on. It may appear to be a bit much on paper. Still, Syreeta Singleton's script moves through these sections in a rather efficient manner, even if it isn't particularly memorable or groundbreaking.
