We love it when they make Van Damme come from New Orleans or some part of Louisiana. It’s such an easy fix to his accent. “Oh, that accent? Don’t worry about it. He’s Cajun.” You know what’s better than that simple line? When the film is actually based in New Orleans! That’s right, we’re taking on Until Death! Van Damme plays a heroin addicted cop, how can you not like this movie already? And did we mention, we have a special guest in studio with us? That’s right! Damon from the Podbros Network joins us as we talk about this surprising treasure of the mid-2000s.

Welcome back! It’s perfect timing that we review a movie about school right when the school year starts (at least here in Michigan). That’s right, we’re taking on 2006’s Heist School! This is a Turkish film where Van Damme plays a minor role – and since we weren’t able to get subtitles on the film, we only reviewed his portion of the movie. Enjoy!

Jean-Claude plays Philippe Sauvage, a veteran, who has to protect a former boxing champion. Jeff and John review this movie in all of its glory.

Van Damme once again is doing cameos! Since Last Action Hero, this may be the smallest amount of time Van Damme has been on film. Or maybe it was that Friends episode? We’re not really sure but we do know this is the first time in a very long time that Van Damme is once again speaking only French in a film! Welcome to Narco: The Secret Adventures of Gustave Klopp! We were really debating whether to make this its own episode or not since Van Damme only appears in it for roughly four minutes. But we decided to do it anyway with an added bonus! Follow along with us as we do commentary to the cameo. Just watch the video below and hit play when we say to do so (kind of like one of those read along books):

Sometimes when you’re just breaking into the film industry, you’ll do anything you can to get a cameo on screen. Once you make it big, you have no time for small productions anymore. But then you reach that point in your career where you think, “Hey, it’ll be fun and an easy pay day.” This is what it looked like for Van Damme when he went on NBC’s hit television series, “Las Vegas.” And you better believe we reviewed it!

Each time we watch these mid-2000 movies from Van Damme, we always find ourselves surprised. By now, we should automatically assume that each movie he does is gold. We don’t know if it’s because Hollywood has drilled it into our heads that straight-to-dvd movies aren’t the best or that we don’t expect much in the way of action films without giant budgets. Or maybe we get movies like Derailed that put us back into our pessimistic place with wary eyes. But Wake of Death surprised us. Violent, gritty, and nasty, this movie was almost the complete package.
