In this episode of the podcast, Claire was joined by Jeffrey Lehrer,  National Compliance Manager at The Scout Association of Australia's RTO. He outlines why Scouts have an RTO and how both adult volunteers and young scouts benefit - as well as discussing the work being done (in Australia and internationally) to better recognise non-formal learning.

For international listeners interested in non-formal learning and/or the Scouts movement - there are a few Australian acronyms/terms used in this episode:

• an RTO is a registered training organisation (ie a technical and vocational education and training provider regulated by government, and delivering a range of certificate and diploma courses specified by industry)
• a Training Package is the collection of competencies and qualifications industry representatives have told government that their workers need - and these packages are used by RTOs to ensure they deliver the right training content to learners
• the 'TAE Package' is the Training and Assessment training package which specifies the teaching and assessment competencies that educators working in the TVET sector need, and
• the National Microcredential Framework details are online: https://www.education.gov.au/national-microcredentials-framework
