Well, there was a news that Japan was ranked first out of 117 countries in the World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism Development Index, despite the fact that Japan had stopped accepting tourists.

As a Japanese language study provider, this is great news for me.

Japan's efficient transportation network, rich cultural heritage, and Japan's public health, safety, and security were highly rated.

So, I was browsing the Internet today to introduce some of the popular places in Japan, and I would like to introduce some places that are not standard but popular among foreigners, such as Fushimi Inari, Itsukushima Shrine, Kinkakuji Temple, and Mt.

One is Gotokuji Temple（豪徳寺） in Setagaya, Tokyo. It is a Soto sect temple, but it is popular because of the more than 1,000 beckoning cats that welcome visitors.

Another is Okunojima（大久野島） Island in the Seto Inland Sea in Hiroshima Prefecture, popular for its 800 wild rabbits.

Jigokudani Yaen-koen （地獄谷野猿公苑）in Nagano Prefecture is popular for the cute sight of wild Japanese monkeys bathing in hot springs while it snows.

さて、日本は観光客の受け入れを停止していたにもかかわらず　World Economic Forumの　Travel and Tourism Development Index で117か国中、日本が一番になったというニュースがありました。

日本語学習を提供している私としては嬉しいニュースです。

日本の効率的な交通網や豊かな文化遺産、そして日本の公衆衛生、安全・安心が高い評価を受けたそうです。

そこで、今日もいくつか日本の人気スポットご紹介しようとネットを見ていたら、伏見稲荷や厳島神社、金閣寺や富士山などの定番ではないですが、外国人に人気の場所をいくつか紹介します。

一つは東京世田谷の豪徳寺。曹洞宗のお寺ですが、1000体を超える招き猫が迎えてくれるので人気です。

また、広島県の瀬戸内海に浮かぶ大久野島は800羽もの野生のウサギで人気です。

雪が降る中、野生のニホンザルが温泉につかる姿がかわいいと人気なのは長野県の地獄谷野猿公苑。

The other day I introduced Ehime（愛媛）and Kochi（高知） prefectures in Shikoku（四国）, and today I would like to introduce the two remaining prefectures in Shikoku, Tokushima（徳島） and Kagawa（香川）.

From Tokushima, we will introduce you to the Awa Odori dance（阿波踊り） and the Naruto whirlpools（鳴門のうずしお）, and from Kagawa, Sanuki Udon noodles（讃岐うどん） and Ritsurin Park（栗林公園）, Naoshima（直島）, Teshima（豊島）, and Inujima（犬島）, islands in the Seto Inland Sea（瀬戸内海）.

It is shaved ice. Shaved ice is made by shaving or crushing ice into small pieces and pouring syrup over the top, and it is the best during the hot summer season.

Shaved ice used to be a simple, cold summer treat consisting of ice topped with sweet syrup, but now it has become a fashionable sweet treat decorated in a variety of ways and posted on Instagram.

The Hakuba mountain range, with a series of brave mountain ridges stretching from north to south. From right to left, Mt. Hakuba (2933m), Mt. Shakushidake (2812m), and Hakuba Yari (2903m), you can experience another charm of Japan, the beauty of nature.

Now, it has been announced that Japan will gradually increase the number of foreign tourists entering the country. Of course, many of you may want to visit famous tourist destinations such as Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka, but today I would like to introduce Narai-juku, which retains the atmosphere of a Japanese inn town from the Edo period.

Narai-juku is the 34th post town along the Nakasendo in Nagano Prefecture. Because it is located near the 1,197-meter-high Torii Pass, which was known as a difficult pass to cross, it is said to be the highest elevation in the Kiso area, where many travelers stopped and stayed overnight to prepare for their journey once more and to nourish their spirits.

The town is divided along the road into three sections from the south: Uemachi, Nakamachi, and Shimomachi. In the old days, the main camp, side camps, and wholesale stores were located in Nakamachi, the central part of the town.

奈良井宿は長野県の中山道沿いの三十四番目の宿場町。峠越えの難所として知られた標高1,197メートルの「鳥居峠」のそばにある為に、多くの旅人が今一度旅支度を整え英気を養うために、立ち寄ったり宿泊した木曽エリアで最も標高が高い宿場町です。

街道にそって南側から上町、仲町、下町の三町に分かれており、昔は町の中心部である仲町に本陣、脇本陣、問屋が置かれました。

Today I would like to share another Japanese proverb with you. In English, there's an expression that says "There's no use crying over spilt milk.", used in situations when there's nothing that can be done about something that has already happened. There is a similar expression in Japanese but instead of "milk", the word used is "water", and there's no crying involved. Interesting, right?
