The ghouls check out of the Abbadon Hotel as they complete their deep dive into the Hell House Franchise with IV: Origins. They dive into the mythology of the series, and give tons of credit to writer, director, creator, Stephen Cognetti for the universe he created. The ghouls tease the continuation of Found Footage Fall, as Marissa explains her existential crisis with not being scared of horror any more. The ghouls also discuss the start to the Holiday/Christmas season and their love for this time of year.

NOTE: Hell House Lineage release on October 30th on Shudder. The ghouls will not cover this one because it is not a found footage film but they are SUPER excited to watch it.

Jacki and Marissa continue their celebration of Mike Flanagan, with a discussion of The Haunting of Bly Manor. Marissa crashes out about the death, being forgotten, and the afterlife. She decides to plan her own Halloween Hell House, where the only people who have to worry are horrible humans. The rest of us are going straight up. As Marissa spirals we are lucky that Jacki is here to talk her down and remind her that is the mess of life and being loves is all beautiful yet inevitably tragic.

Is this the weakest entry in the Mike Flanagan Cinematic Universe? Maybe, but the ghouls agree that it is still an incredibly beautiful meditation on love, grief, and memento mori.
