Jesus is Real Radio with Daniel Fusco

In order to be closer to God, the children of Israel had to go through a mediator, and follow the requirements of offerings that were commanded. As Pastor Daniel takes us through Numbers, we’ll begin to understand all that had to be done for a person to be in relationship with God. The majority of people would be really squeamish at the idea of being completely exposed and examined, and that’s just our physical bodies. What if someone had a window into our hearts and minds? Even believers struggle to come to terms with knowing that God knows EVERYTHING. But, as Pastor Daniel assures us today, God still sticks around.

If you hurt me, I’ll hurt you. That’s the prevailing wisdom of our culture, but it totally conflicts with the way Jesus wants us to live. As we hear about how the children of Israel were instructed to keep their camp from defilement, we’ll understand that God demands the same thing of our hearts. Pastor Daniel will acknowledge our struggles to do this, and help us to come clean. We can hand over those areas to God, and become a clean house for Him.

When you’re trying to grow in certain areas, it’s REALLY difficult unless you have some accountability. Today, Pastor Daniel will strongly encourage us to find people who can be there for us. As we hear about the Gershonites, we’ll be reminded about just how lazy our hearts really are…we want to get the job done with as little effort as possible. Even the children of Israel weren’t exempt from this human characteristic…but there is a remedy.

Every believer needs to step into the role God has designated for us….and watch the growth and fruitfulness that happens from doing that. In the serving, things get worked out. As Pastor Daniel explains regarding the Levites, God gave His people specific roles. He valued each one of His people as they functioned to give glory to Him. As we learn to embrace our own roles, we can be assured that we’ll be nurtured and loved along the way.

As parents, you are called to fulfill the needs of your children. As a spouse, you are called to care for your husband or wife. When your calling extends out into the world, it’s necessary to follow God’s leading…otherwise someone or something is neglected. Pastor Daniel explains in this teaching why the Levites were given such a specific calling, different from the other tribes. We’ll find out why their work was vital to the spiritual health of all the people.

Imagine something that’s precious to you. Now imagine giving up that thing to your worst enemy. It seems an impossible task, right? Our imaginations are pretty limited when it comes to imagining what God wants to do in our lives, so a common trap is to just fall back on what WE want. The children of Israel couldn’t foresee what the long-term plan was when God ordered them to conduct a census and camp in certain places, but that trust would result in blessing.

God wants His people to define themselves according to their relationship to Him. That’s the main point of Pastor Daniel’s message today, as he continues teaching through the book of Numbers, where the children of Israel are given specific instructions about how to live. That runs counter to what our culture presents to us, where we are told to live for ourselves. Today, take a fresh look at what God wants for us, compared to the world.

It’s hard to wait on the Lord, but when we endure it, He can put us exactly where He needs. We all have our own call, and that’s exactly what we’ll find as we hear about the first census of the children of Israel. Pastor Daniel will explain why the Levites weren’t counted, because the Lord had a specific appointment for them. We can look around all we want at what others are doing, but if we let God lead, we’ll have an impact that we wouldn’t on our own.
