Jesus is Real Radio with Daniel Fusco

Our culture tends to have a victim mentality. As individuals, we can fall into that cycle, thinking that everything that goes wrong in life is due to something or someone else. Sometimes that’s true, but ultimately it’s a way to keep ourselves from taking responsibility for our lives. Today, Pastor Daniel challenges us with some difficult truths, as he leads us through Proverbs, and what God has to say about those things that keep us from an abundant life.

As people, we’re constantly seeking satisfaction. Whether it’s in relationships, career, hobbies…we chase after so many things to fill us up. But, that’s a fruitless effort. Friendship has its privileges. Most of us seek friendships that are fulfilling to us…but a friend that just makes us feel good shouldn’t be what we’re looking for. As we’ll hear in Pastor Daniel’s teaching, friends are truly friends when they call you out on your stuff…because love isn’t about enabling someone in their sin, but challenging them to change. It can be difficult to do, and hard to receive, but if someone cares about you…they’ll speak up.

Christians are often called out by non-believers as being hypocrites, especially when a person claims to follow Jesus, but their actions show otherwise. But it’s true, Christians are hypocrites. We all have a hypocrisy factor, because we’re flawed as people. Today, Pastor Daniel helps us to identify and deal with those areas in our lives where our flesh and our faith are at odds. It starts with a plea, for God to take our hearts and heal them.

Pride is always a huge obstacle in life…no matter what situation it’s applied to. Pride puts the priority on self, never on others. As we’ll hear today in this message from Pastor Daniel, that is totally contrary to God’s character, and keeps us from letting Him work in our hearts. Listen, and find out how to let go of an “I’m always right” attitude and how to become humble in Spirit. It’s possible, if we can let go of our place as number one in our own lives.

When you put your name on something, you have to take responsibility for it…even if you change your mind down the road. Like an inappropriate facebook post…your words and actions are saying something to the world. And, once it’s out there, it’s there. As Pastor Daniel will remind us today, God has a complete record. It what you’re saying and doing reflecting who you serve? If not, it’s vital to consider the consequences.

It takes a lot of energy to feed feelings of hatred...there’s a reason it’s compared to a fire, devouring everything good. Slander, lies, violence…all these spring from hatred. Today, Pastor Daniel will examine the contrast of hatred and love, and why it’s so difficult to love someone even in their mistakes. Jesus is not only the answer, but the example of loving wisdom. Listen as we consider why we continue the cycle of hatred, and how to stop it.

If you had a bowl of fresh fruit and a bowl of rotten fruit sitting on your counter…which would you throw away? The answer is obvious…but it’s not so obvious when it comes to people, because we tend to value the wrong things. Today, Pastor Daniel will teach about the contrast between wickedness and righteousness. While we know righteousness is the way, we’ve all failed at it. Today, we’ll find out how to get there.

A person that is unteachable never grows. Whether you’re an athlete, and artist, or a pastor…everyone must be teachable. For spiritual growth, we need to learn from the Father. Pastor Daniel explains why humility is vital to strengthening our relationships with God. We all live in a world where people are seen as self-sufficient planets, revolving around nothing. In fact, when we allow God to guide our paths, and give up our selfishness...we’re free.

When you watch a happy, sad, or scary film…it affects your mood. What we take in, whether it’s watching, hearing or touching…leaves an imprint on our lives. Today, Pastor Daniel stresses the importance of considering everything we consume and how our hearts can become a reflection of that. Our words and actions tell a story. We’ll be challenged to wonder, “what’s being tattooed on my heart?” Is it from the world, or is it from the Lord?
