Jewels from the Crown: for Los Angeles Kings fans

The end of the long, dull, maddening grind that Kings fans everywhere refer to as "the regular season" is thankfully almost here. With four games left to play in just six days, the Kings have a chance to finish as high as 2nd in the Pacific division (giving them home ice in the first round of the playoffs) or as low as, uh, not in the playoffs at all. That's weird, right? We'll discuss it with our guest Mike (@mikeFAIL) of Matchsticks & Gasoline, SBN's blog for the Calgary Flames. The Kings & Flames will play Thursday with Los Angeles looking to leapfrog them in the standings, so hopefully tonight's episode will not devolve into mindless shouting. Also, we'll probably pause to spit on the grave o-uh, I mean eulogize the 2014-15 San Jose Sharks. Fun times!

Yes, another Sharks episode! I know, I know, but hear me out: some hilarious things are happening in Sharks land right now. If you've been living under a rock, GM Doug Wilson and top star Joe Thornton had a verbal battle over the past five or so days, when Wilson again went over why Big Joe was stripped of the captaincy this past offseason during a Q&A for season ticket holders. Of course, the details got out, and Thornton responded saying that Doug needs to "shut his mouth". Fun! So we'll have on Derek, aka The Neutral, aka the guy behind the @fearthefin account, to talk all about this latest melodrama and also the Sharks cratering play and playoff odds. Should be a fun time!

We're taking advantage of my trip to Los Angeles by collecting a staggering number of bloggers in the same room. From Jewels I'll be joined by Eric, Nick, Langluy, & Sheng. And on top of that, Chanelle from Thx Bud will be with as well! Six bloggers, one room, one podcast! Will this episode be a mess? Probably! But at least it should be a fun mess! We'll talk all about the Kings: the Sekera trade, the recent winning AND losing streaks, and what comes next.

We're happy to bring you a Very Special Episode of the Jewelcast this week: for reasons that are honestly beyond me, Marissa (@gaboriks) of @fakeorgay will make her debut appearence. Also joining us will be Derek (@fearthefin), aka The Neutral of Fear the Fin, making his, uh, not debut appearence. Presumably we'll discuss this Saturday night's Kings-Sharks Stadium Series game, the Kings' recent 4-game winning streak, the Sharks inability to beat the Calgary Flames, and I guess other stuff? Who really knows? Just listen, okay?

I have about ten minutes to get this episode up and running, so this description will be a little lighter than usual! Sheng and Eric will be joining me to discuss, I imagine, the Los Angeles Kings hockey club. Tune in!

With the Kings tumbling mercifully toward the all-star break, the Jewelcast is back for another episode. We'll discuss the recent misfortunes of everyone's favorite defending champions (at least they got that win over the Leafs though!!!). Plus, we're joined by Jake Sundstrom (@jakesundstrom) of Fear the Fin to help us preview Wednesday's big showdown between the Kings and Sharks! Yes, another Sharks guest, deal with it.

With the Kings set for a Stanley Cup Final rematch on Thursday night against the New York Rangers, we've got your full preview on this week's edition of the Jewelcast! Eric & I will be joined by Kevin Power (@kpower90) from SBN's Rangers blog Blueshirt Banter, along with Nicole (@PucksNotGiven) from, uh, the Twitterverse I guess? Both Rangers fans will talk last year's Stanley Cup Final, what the different looking Rangers have done so far this year, and whether they're looking forward to the first regular season matchup of the year between these two teams. Plus, we'll talk the insane week that was for the Kings and much more!
