On the 80th episode of the Jiu-Jitsu Outlet show, I had the honor of hosting Dr. Rhadi Ferguson once again.
Dr. Ferguson has competed in Judo at the Olympics, at the ADCC world championships of submission grappling, at the IBJJF world championships, and also as a professional MMA fighter. Now retired, he teaches Judo and Jiu-Jitsu to students out of his academy in Florida. He currently holds the rank of 6th degree red & white belt in Judo and 4th degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

Part two:

In this episode, Dr. Ferguson joins us to discuss the principles of the martial artists - namely Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In this exclusive interview, Dr. Ferguson shares about why Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is actually Judo. If we want to know the principles of Jiu-Jitsu, we should look to Judo and the teachings of Sensei Jigaro Kano.
We also discuss the principles of combat and why long-passed martial artists like Jigaro Kano, Musashi, and Sun Tzu hold the answers to our questions.
Dr. Ferguson also discusses the need to focus on the martial element of the arts we practice. He also shares why it is important to always focus on getting top position instead of playing a "guard" based bottom game that has become common in modern BJJ.
Although many will not agree with his opinions about Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, they are rooted in historical evidence. Listen to this conversation with an open mind to learn more.

On the 74th episode of this podcast, I had the pleasure of talking to Jordan Preisinger, a BJJ coach and academy owner who created the popular Jordan Teaches Jiu-jitsu YouTube channel. Jordan shared some incredible insights on how to become better at Jiu-Jitsu faster, without having to learn every single technique out there.
Jordan has ADHD which makes it difficult for him to focus on things that are boring and repetitive for too long. Despite this, he found a way to make Jiu-Jitsu fun and enjoyable for himself and his students.
Jordan revealed that the key to his success is understanding the concepts that make up everything you do in Jiu-Jitsu. These concepts are everywhere you look, in defense, offense, and everything in-between. By mastering these concepts, Jordan was able to receive his black belt in just 7 years of training.
Jordan doesn't keep these concepts to himself. He has created a Jiu-Jitsu Theory Course and a platform where he shares these concepts with the world. His students love them because they make their Jiu-Jitsu so much better and enjoyable.
If you're a Jiu-Jitsu enthusiast who wants to take your game to the next level, then you need to listen to this episode. Jordan's insights will blow your mind and revolutionize your Jiu-Jitsu. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn from one of the best in the game.

In this video, I share about where Jiu-Jitsu Outlet is headed after one year in operation. Our first location is open now in Houston, Missouri. You can learn more about how to come train at the new location by clicking here:
https://jiujitsuoutlet.com/houstonmo/
The vision is to have a Jiu-Jitsu Outlet in every city and make each one a place where we can train in martial arts like BJJ or Judo but also a spot to relax and recover after training. A Jiu-Jitsu Outlet will be an integrative health center that also allows guests to stay the night using Airbnb.
We have an Airbnb open at our first location. You can book a stay here and stay a night (or longer) at the academy:
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/886105128898264909?check_in=2023-08-15&check_out=2023-08-18&guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=30e16108-72c0-466a-adc2-30b8c6eab78c
The purpose of a Jiu-Jitsu Outlet is to make the martial arts more accessible and easier for people to begin training.
Eventually we want to have an entire mall that is dedicated to this purpose.

On this 73rd episode of the podcast, I chat with "The Silver Fox" Karel Pravec. Karel is a 4th degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the legendary Renzo Gracie. He now teaches BJJ out of his academy in New Jersey - Silver Fox Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy.
On this episode, Karel and I chat about how training in the martial arts helped his mental health and how he has seen it affect his students. We dive in by discussing about why doing difficult things helps turn the volume down on other aspects of your life.
Karel shares the lessons he learned from training with legends like Renzo Gracie and John Danaher and what he learned from them that he applied to his own teaching.
Throughout the episode, Karel mentions the importance of having fun with your Jiu-Jitsu training. Although we must take our training seriously (especially if training for a big tournament), we should always maintain a joyful attitude and not take ourselves too seriously.
On this episode, Karel shares some real wisdom learned from a lifetime in the martial arts. I think you'll really enjoy this episode.
