A couple of mornings ago I was sitting in quiet meditative devotion. My mind began to think of all the acts of kindness I have received through my whole life from many people. Scene after scene like a slide show of those moments in my life flashed up before my minds eye. I saw myself as a hungry child, a teenager lost, unloved and totally alone.
Then more scenes as I grew older of more darkness and destruction. Yet in the midst of it, acts of kindness kept me going, they kept me alive. Each scene seemed as if they were especially handpicked by the Lord. I saw all the things many people did for me in those acts of kindness that changed my life and gave me hope, and power to go on. All the kind people became like "candles that both defied and defined the great darkness" I walked through.
Have you ever found yourself in a dark pit? Alone and having nothing? Then out of the blue someone showed you kindness in some form that shined the light of God's love upon you? That left you with a deep penetrating knowing that it was God? I think the people that have suffered the most and have received kindness themselves, are those who will give up their very life for you. When they see you they see themselves.
Jesus Christ gave up His life for us. The greatest act of loving-kindness ever bestowed upon mankind. He uses people, even unbelievers to show His kindness to you, "for all are His servants." Make sure you are always that riverbed of His love that has an outflow of kindness to everyone. Kindness is a powerful love-rooted healing virtue.
Never stop showing kindness no matter what or who it is, and in doing so, you will be ever growing Heavenward in the eternal love of God. You will become a waterwheel and fountain of His love. "Love never fails," therefore kindness never fails. You will be sowing seeds of eternal light on either sides of the paths of those who walk in darkness, who are sad and ravaged by this world. Never stop sowing seeds of light that lead the way to the Heavenly Jerusalem.
"If souls can suffer alongside, and I hardly know it, because the spirit of discernment is not in me, then I know nothing of Calvary love.” ― Amy Carmichael, If

Recently I felt as if some underground compartment opened up within me and out came all kinds of awful feelings. There was even some shock and surprise at the power of them. The more I tried to run from them the stronger they became and overtook me, and "slew me."
I realized that the more I tried to wrestle them back into the underneath soul-compartment the more they rose to the surface with force. I felt depressed and wondered why I could not have freedom from them. I arose "a great while before day and went out into a solitary place and there prayed." A few days before I was releasing in prayer some old pain and hurts from long ago.
This time though it was if I could not pray like I normally have on a daily basis. I knew that the Lord was not interested in anything else. As if He was saying to me, "Out with it!" I wept. I sobbingly confessed what was in me all these years. I mean I dug down deep and held nothing back until my soul became "quiet like that of a weaned child."
Like when Joshua went to war against Ai (Judges chp 7), they were immediately defeated, many died including thirty-six of his most valiant warriors. They all ran back to camp. "Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads."
Then God spoke to Joshua saying, "Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face? "Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff." (vs.10-11). The sin in the camp was buried in a man's tent.
God wants us to dig up the filth and garbage out of our own soul-tents. And to cast everything into His awaiting fires to burn them up forever. This will make us fit for the Kingdom of God. To give full reverence, submission and subjection to Him completely with eternal joy.

Over the past few months my heart has been moving in the Lord. His calling me to come up higher. The stirring within has only increased. I have been speaking to Him about absolute surrender. The Initiator has been the Lord. I am aware the source is of Him and not me.
There has been a strange kind of separation happening from within. It is hard to put it into words. A departure more and more from this world. I believe I am not alone. Heaven seems to be drawing nearer and the earth receding. Many are feeling the call to lose their life for Christ. But they are afraid because of the enemy taunting them with fearful threats of attacks, and fiery darts of accusations.
I love this quote from an old saint now home with the Lord:
"What are you afraid of? Of leaving that which will soon leave you? What are you afraid of? Of following too much goodness, finding a too-loving God, of being drawn by an attraction that is stronger than self or the charms of this poor world? What are you afraid of? Of becoming too humble, too detached, too pure, too true, too reasonable, too grateful to your Father who is in heaven?
I implore you, be afraid of nothing so much as of this false fear - this foolish, worldly wisdom that hesitates between God and self, between vice and virtue, between gratitude and ingratitude, between life and death."
Do not be afraid. Answer the call. Take up your cross, and like the disciples, they forsook all and followed Jesus Christ. They never looked back and neither will you. Only the best will happen to you and for you when you enter into absolute surrender. He will take care of you and your children.
“God nowhere tells us to give up things for the sake of giving them up. He tells us to give them up for the sake of the only thing worth having--viz., life with Himself. It is a question of loosening the bonds that hinder the life...”

This morning I learned that Lisa Marie Presley passed away unexpectantly. A deep sadness entered in. Later on in the morning I saw many "Christian" comment threads that were filled with brutal words. Other believers who commented that had words of love were eviscerated by these so-called Christians. Whether she knew Christ or not at the end, only God knows.
What really deeply moved me was a profound sorrow for her sad and troubled life that was now ended. Now there is only an eternity that is in question. Jesus told us to love one another, and not just those in the body of Christ. But an open ended, supernatural, rich love that is not of this world. A love that manifests itself in our actions and most especially words.
I asked myself these questions this morning, "Why are we here? To only shine among ourselves? Sing more songs? Read more books? Get more spiritual knowledge? What is our purpose then? To say so easily, "Well you know, she was a sinner her whole life." Or, "He definitely went to hell!" I felt my heart rip open and wanted to shed this flesh and run my race in the Spirit of His great unsurpassing love!
King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2:
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die..."
The time may not be there for people around us. Our time may not be here for us tomorrow. We will be answerable for our time, and "things done in the body whether they be good or bad" at the Judgment Seat of Jesus Christ.
Fulfill the command of Jesus Christ: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-35.
This is not a recommendation. This is not a suggestion, it is a commandment. Are you Jesus' disciple? Then be obedient to His command to love with His love without question. And speak those things are compelled by His pure and holy love.
"He said “Love…as I have loved you.” We cannot love too much." - Amy Carmichael

Yesterday I was having a kind of down-day. It was gloomy and overcast. I could not shake myself out of it, even with several attempts at prayer. As I was reading the word I came across this verse in 2 Corinthians 10:10:
"For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible."
I continued to read on but I kept boomeranging back to that verse and knew it was something God wanted me to meditate on. I then was compelled to do some research on it which gave me such a deeper understanding of what God was shining His light on.
According to Tyndale and Wycliffe about Paul: "he had a small and contracted body, somewhat crooked and bowed, a pale face, looked old, and had a little head; he had a sharp eye; his eyebrows hung downwards; his nose was beautifully bent, somewhat long; his beard thick and pretty long; and that, as the hair of his head, had a sprinkling of gray hairs."
The “contemptible speech” meant literally, speech of no value; counted as of nothing, referring to a weak voice. Many said his presence had the look of one infirmed. It is as though he felt that his appearance was against him. The impression of one who was acutely sensitive."
We think about a man whose outward appearance and voice denoted weakness. The appearance of his body as infirmed. But this man is the one whom God chose to write the very letters we live by in the New Testament.
Do you feel weak? Do you feel as though your appearance is not good enough? That you do not measure up? Consider Paul. He says, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." Never equate any outward appearance as the qualifications of those you listen to, or yourself to be listened to. "The outward man perishes, and the inward man is being renewed day by day." The Lord lifted me up and refreshed my soul and strengthened me with strength in my soul.
"Bare heights of loneliness...a wilderness whose burning winds sweep over glowing sands, what are they to Him? Even there He can refresh us, even there He can renew us." -Amy Carmichael

As I was praying about todays message the Lord was very careful to direct me regarding what was on His heart. As I was preparing a message the bottom fell out of it. I knew that there was something else. The Holy Spirit made it clear to me in my heart what Jesus distinctly wanted. After all, my preparation prayers for messages are always one question. "What is on your heart Lord? Show me. Stir up my heart."
Immediately my heart began stirring. Clearly and strongly I knew. I could hear Him in my heart saying, "Do not burden them with how to give Me more. They have little power and are struggling. Tell them I have compassion on them." I remembered that word Jesus spoke, "I have compassion on the multitude..."Mark 8:2.
What I was receiving was so much more than what I can put into words. What Jesus is concerned about much more than anything is the weariness and heaviness in people's lives. Daniel was faced with a heavy decision. Either he can stop praying for thirty days and live. Or to go on praying and face certain death.
"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime." Daniel 6:10.
His windows "being opened." That struck me. They were not flung open, but were already opened towards the east where he prayed towards Jerusalem where the temple was. Where the ark of the covenant was. Where the Presence of God was. I thought to myself, are the windows of our hearts opened towards the Heavenly Jerusalem to pray where Jesus Christ is enthroned as King? It is time to open your windows and leave them open, and pray just like Daniel did, and was heard and saved out of the lions mouths.
“Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do; He reveals to you Who He is.” ― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest: Selections for the Year

We are now in 2023 and entering into a time of great distress, sorrow and anguish. What has been prophesied thousands of years ago is happening now. A gross darkness is overtaking this nation and the whole world. We are the believers of this final generation. Yet it is always religious business as usual. In fact, what the body of Christ is now, is very reminiscent of what Israel was during the days of Isaiah.
The children of Israel were constantly being warned and threatened about what was coming upon them. But they turned aside. Isaiah was Israel's watchman. Though he was only one man his voice echoes throughout these thousands of years. He prophesied about these days.
We read and read all about these prophesies but never does it sink in that they are happening right now. However, God has His watchmen all over the world and in every generation. Watchmen get up faithfully every single night and pray. It is not just about chattering away in the night. The watchmen are very quiet and solitary people. They have intense spiritual receptivity.
They are not worldly and are very private. They are easily awakened by the Lord at night and go out and pray. They are like "the valiant of Israel. They all hold swords, being expert in war: every man hath his sword upon his thigh because of fear in the night." In fact that is their habit. While the world sleeps, the watchmen are awake. During the day, they are keeping their eyes on the prophecy skylines, and in the night they are moving in the power of the Holy Spirit. Maybe God is calling you to join us. If so then answer the call. Obedience is the best sacrifice.
"Each time you intercede, be quiet first and worship God in His glory. Think of what He can do, of how He delights to hear Christ, of your place in Christ, and expect great things." ~ Andrew Murray

Every now and then the Lord will put something upon our hearts to do or say. There are other times that He puts something upon our hearts that has a completely different feel to it. It is very deep and strong. I have experienced this in my life from time to time. It is out of the ordinary and it got a hold of my heart. I could not discern what the Lord wanted or was perhaps trying to say to me.
Then I began to pray.
The more I prayed inquiring of God what it was, there was only a deepening and intensifying to it. There is also such a great conviction that comes from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Also with it comes temptation to want to share it with people. I have learned that it is not the will of God to share what is meant only for me with anyone. Many times it brings immediate scorn, anger and mocking.
I learned the hard way that when the Lord is moving within me like this, to never share it with anyone. It is not for them. Though it is okay to share a very small thing about it saying, "I sense the Lord is moving in me," then let it go.
I love the words Amy Carmichael wrote:
"Every strong conviction ends by taking possession of us; it overcomes and absorbs us, and tears us ruthlessly from everything else; it becomes our sole object, and outside it nothing seems to touch us; those who attack it are our enemies; those who love and serve it with us are our true, our only family. It takes steadfastness and the integrity of spirit, the love that inspires it, the note of the eternal dominates it."
The mark of maturity is trusting God in full steadfast obedience. You belong to Him and to no one else. It is Him you are to obey. Wait for Him in humble, quiet readiness. I believe He is not only doing this in my life, but in the lives of others right now. He is getting many ready for what is coming upon us next year. He wants readiness to obey suddenly and to believe Him in the impossible.
"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14.
"This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God’s way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." ~ Elisabeth Elliot

Today I wanted to let the living waters flow forth to everyone in a good fellowship kind of way. The kind of talk that gathers listeners, gives hope, encourages the weary and brings joy. As we are approaching a new year, the greater thing is we are approaching eternal life. I do believe in the Rapture of the body of Jesus Christ. As that day approaches, those of us that are keeping our eyes on the prophecy skyline are seeing what is coming.
What I believe the Lord is specifically showing me is He wants His people to unflinchingly believe His word and to do exactly what He says. This is love. We love Him and want to do what He says with our whole hearts.
What is coming next year is going to demand believing Him at His very word. This world as we know it is passing away before our eyes. It is time to surrender completely to Him. Trusting and believing Him for everything He says. To stand tall at the end and let this dying world and the kingdom of darkness know what kind of believers we are.
We so easily call ourselves "believers" yet do not believe Him on so many levels. In doing this we have impugned His character and our witness. I was recently struggling in prayer regarding a difficult matter. I heard the voice of the Holy Spirit say to me, "If you believe Him for little you will receive little. If you believe Him for much you will receive much."
My heart was energized and comforted. Now I know that He is preparing me and others for what is coming. God always responds to the believer who takes Him at His word in belief. Believing God with your whole heart is the greatest honor you can give Him. Then watch what HE WILL DO.
"Faith is not an instinct. It certainly is not a feeling - feelings don't help much when you're in the lions' den or hanging on a wooden Cross. Faith is not inferred from the happy way things work. It is an act of will, a choice, based on the unbreakable Word of a God who cannot lie, and who showed us what love and obedience and sacrifice mean, in the person of Jesus Christ." ~ Elisabeth Elliot

As we are at the close of this year 2022 the very natural thing for people to do is to become deeply thoughtful about it. There is the quiet looking back at everything that happened. There is something about the closing of a year and the entering in of a new one that brings solemnity.
There is always such hope of better possibilities of life lived better in every aspect. Spiritual life to the believer is the one thing they want to do better. They hope to grow in the Lord and please God. They want to experience higher and deeper life in Him. Then there is always that word that is used only at the end of every year, "resolution." However to everyone, every new years resolution is set up for swift failure.
There is always this broad-brushed resolve that they are going to change something. It is always short lived though, and sets up the rest of the year for them to forecast another year under a cloud.
Now a days, as soon as people hear the word "resolution" they are turned off. Because that word to them is synonymous with certain failure. But this should not be the case for the believer. Christ wants us to be resolute and to have resolve. Not just at the beginning of the year, but all year long in the every day life, moment by moment, step by step.
Jonathan Edwards at the end of 1722, at nineteen years of age sat down to write the beginning of his "70 Resolutions." He continued writing them through January through March 1723. He read them once a week for the rest of his life. They are beautiful, rich and from a deep heart of loving resolute resolve. Resolve from this day forward for the rest of your life to have life long resolution and resolve in your own walk with Jesus Christ. You will be brave, courageous, sound and full of God's love.
“Resolved, never to do anything which I should be afraid to do if it were the last hour of my life.” ― Jonathan Edwards
