The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:30pm Colder air returns to the Eastern US through Friday followed by a strong upper air trough swiinging southeast from the Great Lakes to the Ohio Valley. A storm will develop off the Florida coast and head northeastward up the coast, strengthening into a major storm Friday night and Saturday. Confidence in this idea is increasing and we will take a look at weather models this evening and also look at  a couple of past storms for some comparison.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:30pm We have a weak warm front moving across the Ohio Valley and Northeast tonight with a period of snow showers with light snow amounts. A milder Tuesday gives way to colder air. Then attention turns to the East Coast late in the weak as low pressure develops off the Southeast coast and moves northeast and strenghens. Weather models are tightening up a bit on track strength and potential risk  of a winter storm beginning in the Southeast US later Friday and the up the Eastern Seaboard Friday night and Saturday. We will have a full analusis of what is going on at this early stage and we will look at this storm's role ni the longer range outlook.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 11AM. Weak weather fronts mark today and the first days this week as cold air masses are driven by cold fronts with not much moisture. Late this week a stronger system is forecast to dive into the  Eastern US forcing storm development off the Southeast US coast but there is much undercertainty regarrding track though recent history would favor something offshore rather than closer to thecoast. Meanwhile we have Winter Weather Advisories from Ohio to Western Pennsylvania today for snow as it moves east. We will look ahead to next week as well as a look at the long range as a pettern change looms for the beginning of February.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:30pm The next weather system for the Northeast and Mid Atlantic is an arctic front on Thursday that brings a quick round of snow Thursday morning. Up to several inches are possible before the front pushes offshore and stalls. Cold air builds into the Eastern and Southern US and low pressure will develop in the Northeast Gulf later Friday bringing snow and ice into parts of the South and Southeast going into the weekend. For now the weekend outlook remains in flux for the east as weather models are dealing with multiple systems and each model handles things differently. Very cold air is set to move into the US everywhere east of the Rockies next week.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 11am A large area of Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories extend across the South & up the Appalachains to the Mid Atlantic and Northeast. Heavy snow and ice is forecast. Along the coast from Virginia to New England a windswept soaking rain will spread northward into Southeastern New England with coastal flooding and high winds. High wind warnings and wind advisories are posted as well as coastal flood advisories and coastal flood watches. Moderate coastal flooding is forecast. We will look at the stom impacts as well as a look at the week ahead and the long range.

Sunday it turns northward up the Appalachians and spreads snow ice and rain through the Carolinas to the Northeast. Winter Storm Warnings are up from Northeast Georgia to Western NY with advisories surrounding the warning area from Tennessee to the Mid Atlantic. Coastal flooding and strong winds Sunday and Sunday night Mid Atlantic to Southeastern New England.

We are going to see snow and ice across the Deep South with this storm and then up the Appalachians from North Georgia to Western Virginia. Along the coastal plain we could see it start as snow or sleet before it goes to a windswept soaking rain Sunday night into Monday morning. Heaviest snows will be in the Western Carolinas to Western Virgnia northward into Western NY. Cold air returns behind the storm next week.

Another cold air mass builds into the East this weekend as a storm develops offshore Friday. A strong disturbance will cause a storm to develop across the Deep South and there could be heavy snows from this from Northern Mississippi to Northern GeoRgia and then up the Appalachians and the Piedmont in the Carolinas. to the interior Mid Atlantic and Northeast over the weekend. Odds of this storm happening continue to increase.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:30pm The coldest air of the winter season so far is here and we are going to see below zero and single digits in the interior Northeast for lows and into the teens Mid Atlantic states over the next 2 days. The pattern is cold overall for the the medium and long range with just brief rebounds. As for storminess weather models are not very clear about the overall pattern. Building pressure across the the North Atlantic and the Arctic suggest storms will be suppressed to the south over the next week to 10 days. Other models suggest otherwise. We do not appear to have much clarity in the meditum to long term at this point.
