The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:30pm The coldest air of the winter season so far is here and we are going to see below zero and single digits in the interior Northeast for lows and into the teens Mid Atlantic states over the next 2 days. The pattern is cold overall for the the medium and long range with just brief rebounds. As for storminess weather models are not very clear about the overall pattern. Building pressure across the the North Atlantic and the Arctic suggest storms will be suppressed to the south over the next week to 10 days. Other models suggest otherwise. We do not appear to have much clarity in the meditum to long term at this point.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:00pm Today's freezing rain and rain have moved away to the east and now the coldest air of the winter season so far moves into the Northeast and Mid Atlantic for the next 2 to 3 days. Some lake effect snow is likely during the course of this cold air coming in. The longer range pattern is very dynamic for the Eastern US with several storm possibilites in the long range. Warmer weather moves into the Western US now that a ridge is building there. The pattern across Canada and the North Atlantic is getting rather blocky for the next 2 weeks.

Winter Storm Warnings are up from Tennessee to West Virginia and from Eastern Long Island and Eastern Connecticut to Southeastern New England. Winter Weather Advisores cover Northeast Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, Eastern and Southern Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, to NYC, Western Long Island, the Hudson Valley into Southern New England. Snow will accumlate anywhere from several to as much as 8 inches in some places. We will have snow forecast maps, the weather models and a look at the long range.

The Joe & Joe Weather Show is LIVE 7:30pm A major snowstorm hit the Mid Atlantic States with some areas in Delaware and Southern New Jersey seeing a foot or more of snow. The storm had a very sharp cut off leaving NYC and New England out of the storms path. Colder air is draining southward for the next day or so. Snow also fell across the Tennessee Valley and up the Appalachians with some higher elevations seeing 6 to 10 inches of snow. Later this week some models are pointing to another storm for the Mid Atlantic and the Northeast. We will take a look at both storms along with the weekend and the long range.

Winter Storm Warnings & Winter Weather Advisories are up from the Tennessee Valley to the Mid Atlantic as a storm develops for Sunday night and Monday. The long range pattern is evolving into a more wintry one in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states and it should be more favorable for snow chances beginning late this week.

In the Western US heavy snows continue across California to Washington and east into Nevada and Utah. Rain looks to the be story for Christmas Day in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. No major storms lie ahead. We have a look at the unchanging long range.

Tonight we will be looking at the potential widespread severe weather outbreak in the Upper Midwest where tornadoes and severe thunderstorms will occur along with 75 to 100 mph winds. In the East warmer air is heading there for Thursday into Friday. The weekend will bring some rain Saturday with snow in upstate NY and New England. Colder air follows Sunday. We will look at the long range and beyond. Joe Rao is travelling back to NY and the Joe & Joe Weather Show should resume Friday or over the weekend.
