Winter Storm Watches are up for much of this area for the potential of heavy snow later Wednesday into early Thursday. A foot or more of snow is possible.

Weather in 5 Winter Storm Watches have gone up from Northwestern Virginia northeast across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania and Maryland, and much of New Jersey. Additional Winter Storm Watches will go up later today for areas of Southeastern NY Southern New England and Long Island. Winter Weather A major winter storm for the Northern Mid Atlantic and Southern New England grows more likely. Advisories are up today for parts of Southern Pennsylvania as a lead low brings rain and some wet snow to areas from the Mid Atlantic to Southern New England. Very cold air now moving into the Northern Plains and Midwest will be heading east tonight and Monday.

Joe  & Joe Weather Show Sunday December 13, 2020 We are looking at 2 winter weather systems moving into the East. The first on Monday will bring a slushy accumulation ranging from a coating to several inches from Pennsylvania to Southern New England. The second will be for Wednesday into Thursday morning and that has the potential to be a major winter storm for areas from Northeast Virginia to Southern New England. Joe Rao and Joe Cioffi will be live streaming the new GFS model run as well as the Canadian and Nam models to try to figure out what is going to happen from both these storm systems.

Weather in 5 We are experiencing cloudy conditions for the rest of tonight and tonight with scattered showers in parts of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic. A cold front will move through and Sunday looks better with sunshine and rather warm temperatures. Colder air arrives Sunday night and Monday ahead of the first of two storm systems Monday's system could leave a coating to a couple of inches South Central Pa northeast to Southern New England. An even colder air mass builds in Tuesday setting us up for a stronger storm Wednesday into Thursday. This storm has potential to produce a significant snowfall from interior Virginia northeastward to Southern New England including Baltimore, Philadelphia, NYC, Hartford, Providence, and Boston.

Joe  & Joe Weather Show Thursday December 10, 2020 A lovely warmer day in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states today. Rain in the Southwest with snow in the Southern Rockies being caused by a new storm system headed from there to the Great Lakes this weekend. This will bring some showers to parts of the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states. The long range shows a strengthening block and models are centering around a storm developing for midweek that could bring snow to parts of the Mid Atlantic and Northeast US.

Weather in 5 A beautiful Thursday and Friday with rising temperatures. A cold front from a storm coming out of the Southwest US will bring some showers later Saturday into early Sunday. Weather conditions improve after that. A blocking pattern strengthens in the Atlantic and that could create an opportunity for wintry precipitation in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic for the middle of next week.

A new storm system develops in the Plains and heads to the Great Lakes this weekend with a cold front headed into the East over the weekend.

Then the next cold front brings showers Saturday night into Sunday. Models diverge long range for next week as weather activity increases.
