  • Mean and Stupid

We kick off our second hour with a little advice on how to take over a democracy, and then John dives into his expose on Justice Rebecca Bradley. Even though we just finished a SCOWI election, we’ve already got our eyes set on the next one, and on Bradley, a homophobic and hateful person who is most definitely NOT nonpartisan. After checking in with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot for a check of the weather, we get some more unsolicited armchair financial advice as the stock market continues crashing. Trump seems to be paying more attention to his golf game than the economy, so we check out how he’s doing on the Trump Golf Tracker. Wrapping up the show for the day, we hear from Fran Lebowitz, who tells it like it is: even a 6 year old can tell you that Trump and MAGA are just mean and stupid.

  • Age of Stupid

John and Gordy, along with their producer Sam joke and chat about the skin-flick, “Vixen!” he saw at the Wisconsin Film Festival last night. After trekking through the National Day Calendar and Today in History, we chat more about old-school, revealing films, then dive headfirst into Idiocracy, talking Nick Fuentes and is hatred of women (we’d all like to deck that guy), and Representative Robert Garcia, who has some choice words for Marjorie Taylor Greene on her firehose of misinformation about vaccines. Closing out, we enter the Age of Stupid – as a Canadian newspaper has finally called the Trump era what it really is.

  • More Panic Buying?

In hour two the conversation continues on tariffs – and the strange times we’re in, as Fox News is agreeing the stock downturn is a big issue. We also learn how impending tariffs and price hikes are causing panic buying. Later, we talk more about the weekend’s protest at the capitol (and across the country!) as well as another one coming up tonight, at a UW event where Scott Walker will speak.

  • A Fake Economist

Despite their slogging pace, John and Gordy have a good time getting this week going. They chat about the National Day Calendar, and also welcome on Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report, this time talking about another surge in bird flu, and also some studies being done on farm family use (or lack thereof) of health insurance. Later in Idiocracy, we talk more agriculture, and the Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins – who really doesn’t care about farmers. The discussion turns to the Bureau of Fiscal Services – now gutted (and replaced) by DOGE, and we close out the hour talking tariffs, and Peter Navarro – who created a fake “expert economist,” cited in his book, to promote the detrimental economic policy.

  • What Are Groceries?

We kick off hour two by chatting with our WMDX News Bureau Chief Savanna Tomei-Olson, getting a recap of the week’s stories – including the election and another attack of a Madison Metro driver. We then talk groceries – and Trump’s fascinating (an uncomprehending) conception of them. We check the current and weekend weather with our WMDX Meteorologist Brittney Merlot, and later welcome on Rökker for a preview of Max Ink Radio and local music shows coming up soon! Music featured this week:

    “Everything Remains” – No Limit

    “Hey Fool” – Subatomic

“Diamonds and Queens” – The German Art Students

    “Jose” – The Jimmys

“Tighten Up” – Clyde Stubblefield All-Stars

“You Learn Secrets” – Tony Brown & Roots

  • Dive, Dive, Dive!

Its Friday! The guys kick off the show with more talk about Liberation Day (being liberated from our money), and also go through The National Day Calendar. After a quick check in with their producer Sam for Today in History, we welcome on Pam Jahnke of the Midwest Farm Report, getting the low-down on what farmers are dealing with – with tariffs, market instability, and the beginning of the end for farm-to-school nutrition programs. We dive into today’s dose of Idiocracy, talking more about the (dumb) tariffs, and ensuing stock market dive yesterday. We talk with some callers about the issue, and hear from the PM of a country we now have tariffs on – inhabited only by penguins. We even hear from Ben Shapiro (!) about how damaging the economic policy will be.

  • Liberation Day

In hour two we dive into the Big Story: one of Musk’s million-dollar winners has broken the law, saying that Elon paid her to vote. We also hear the newest election conspiracy, from “DJ Johnny Massacre,” that Crawford didn’t win the election, since the Voter ID amendment passed. Apparently its impossible to split the ticket? We check in with Brittney Merlot, our WMDX meteorologist, for a look outside, and later, hear from John about some dreadful news: Hooters going bankrupt. Later in the show, back on the topic of “Liberation Day,” from Stephen Colbert, we hear some holiday carols to commemorate the occasion.

  • Old Learning Lost, New Learning Gained

According to Trump, yesterday was “Liberation Day,” but today is more like it as the guys talk the impending stock market tumble. As a distraction, they chat with their producer Sam about his vintage VW Bug, then check the National Day Calendar. Sam tells us all about Today in History, and later we welcome in Dr. Tim Slekar of BustED Pencils. The guys chat about Randi Weingarten, President of AFT, and her latest appearance on the podcast, and also get his take on the pseudo-myth of “lost learning,” post-covid. Wrapping up the hour, they chat some about Tuesday’s election – Jill Underly’s win, but also the multitude of wins in local school board races against groups like Moms for Liberty.

  • Hope Comes Next

In hour two, the guys chat more about Susan Crawford’s big win last night, talking with callers about their renewed sense of hope for Wisconsin. We also talk Cory Booker once again, who yesterday broke the record for longest Senate speech, in which he called on America to look in the mirror, and decide between right and wrong, rather than right and left. After the break, we welcome in Mike McCabe for his weekly appearance, and instead of chatting about his latest article on Substack, we talk about yesterday’s election. He says that though no one and no thing can predict the future, we would be fools to think that yesterday didn’t matter. It stands as an affront to Elon Musk, to which the discussion turns next, centered around his inhumanity in destroying the government. We also get his take on a clip, and response by a caller to it, from the last hour – with a woman angry that Democrats aren’t doing anything, and the caller bringing up the few politicians who are. Mike says we ought to not just do something – we need to play offence. Instead of defending the status quo, we ought to dream about what society can be.

  • Jubilaton

Crawford wins! John can’t contain his excitement, but Gordy puts a sock in him in order to cover the National Day Calendar. Amidst some more chatter about the election, we cover Today in History with Sam, then enter Idiocracy. We first take a detour to talk with a longtime listener, but new caller, about his renewed hope in the wake of yesterday’s election, then transition into discussion about Cory Booker’s record-breaking Senate speech, calling for unity, and for the nation to look itself in the mirror.
