  • Idiocracy Gone Nuclear

Its a cold one! After lamenting the discontinuation of the wind chill, John and Gordy get into the National Day Calendar. We school Gordy on Bitcoin during Today in History, and later get into today's dose of Idiocracy. Today we discuss MTG and her campaign to defunding "Democrat media," NPR, then talk Laura Loomer and her complaints about the oligarchy being put into place - ie Elon Musk and other billionaires in government. From 2019, we get Jimmy Carter's take on on Trump's legitimacy, then get our tinfoil hats out to hear Pete Hegseth's conspiracy that J6 was actually perpetrated by ANTIFA. Closing out, we return to Jimmy Carter, and take a trip back to 1952, learning abut his role in the cleanup of a nuclear disaster.

  • Remembering Mr. President

In hour two, the guys laugh about John's real-life Curb Your Enthusiasm moment, where he avoided saying hello to Chris Kammer in Costco. We send our well-wishes to Rökker as he recovers from a heart attack, then dive back into the issue of H-1B visas, this time getting Trump's ever changing opinion on the program bringing in cheap skilled immigrant workers. Brittney Merlot joins us for a collective complaint session on the wind chill as well as a look at the forecast, before we welcome on attorney and host of Amicus: A Law Review Jim Santelle, who speaks about his time working as an intern under Jimmy Carter, and the accomplishments of an often overlooked president. They also get into some news about SCOTUS, covering John Roberts' warning to elected officials (Trump) on defying the court's rulings.

  • On to 2025

John and Gordy try to remember New Year's Eve, after getting absolutely smashed on Tuesday night. They talk about dancing, but only to the right kind of music, then look forward to the new year we're in with the National Day Calendar. We can't keep doing that however, and look back at Today in History with Sam. Later, we welcome on Dr. Tim Slekar of BustED Pencils to look backwards and forwards (but not at the same time) on what's up with education in 2024 and 2025. We also get his take on H-1B visas, allowing companies like Tesla to import skilled workers, killing the market for home-grown engineers, and opening the door for defunding education. Closing out hour one, the guys discuss the tragedy in New Orleans yesterday, and also Senator John Kennedy's response to it, bizarrely calling investigators Grinches, and setting up the incident for the growth of conspiracy theories.

  • Lie of the Year

In hour two, and the last one of 2024, the guys start a Dumpster Fire Friday, Tuesday edition. We chat with a caller about the history of "woke," and her, as well as other callers plans for New Years. Later, the guys expose the Lie of the Year: eating dogs and cats. In a startling change of pace, John agrees with Steve Bannon, about a story we covered yesterday, H-1B visas, and how foreign workers in engineering are causing an issue - but for a different reason than Bannon says. Rather than xenophobia, these visas and the workers they bring take away from home-grown engineers, allowing defunding of higher education. Wrapping up, the guys chat about new years, and with everyone well going into 2025.

  • Vigilantism: A Double Edged Sword

Its the last day of the year! John and Gordy kick off the show in usual fashion, discussing and laughing about the National Day Calendar and Today in History with Sam, before we get today's dose of Idiocracy. We dive into the issue of Daniel Penny, the man acquitted after killing, in a chokehold, a mentally ill subway rider. The guys call it another act of vigilantism, and compare Penny to Luigi Mangione and Kyle Rittenhouse. Wrapping up the first hour, the guys discuss their plans to ring in the new year, along with an overview of all the events going on around town tonight.

  • Stuck in 2005

The guys take an unprecedented second trip in the Time Tunnel, in hour two. Part two, also from 2005, revolves around H-1B visas to bring in cheap foreign labor. We bring it back to the present by talking about delaying funding for the UW's engineering building, as the Republican legislature would rather import cheap workers than train and employ Americans. We check in with Brittney Merlot after the long week off to talk the weather and New Year's resolutions, then continue in 2005 (we're stuck here) discussing Bush's tax cuts. Later, we chat with a caller about the Great Recession, and dive more into UW funding, with Robin Vos's latest demands before the legislature funds the university system. We hear from weird millionaire and friend of Trump Dan Pena, who tells people to stop being poor, and close out with more remembrance of Jimmy Carter.

  • An Unintelligent Workforce?

John and Gordy are back in the studio after a long winter's nap last week! They begin by remembering Jimmy Carter who passed away yesterday, and get into John's TV recommendations from over the last week. We of course need to cover the National Day Calendar, and speedrun Today in History with Sam before we get into another edition of Idiocracy. They talk toys, and how offshore production is cutting down on availability, and US jobs. To find out why, the guys take a trip back in the Time Tunnel, to 2005, where we hear about jobs needing skilled workers going elsewhere. Closing out, we get into the latest from Elon Musk, where he says that US workers are to stupid (though in not so nice of terms) for them to have the jobs they used to.

  • Our Boss, Interrogated

In hour two, we don't initially get John and Gordy, but instead a real treat: Sage Weil, founder and CEO of Civic Media. Rökker sat down with him to get the scoop on who he is, rather than talking about Civic Media. Spoiler alert: he's a tech genius who helped invent the World Wide Web. John and Gordy do eventually return though, and discuss all the events coming up on New Years Eve, and plan their own celebrations. Later, Rökker returns with his weekly preview of Max Ink Radio, though in this case it's a recap, as his show played out last week. Nevertheless, he always brings in some great music to feature on the John and Gordy Show.

  • Knowing, While Having Faith in Unknowing

Its Friday! John and Gordy kick off the show covering the National Day Calendar, and check in with Sam for Today in History. Later, we chat with Mike McCabe and hear his discussion with the guys from awhile back, about faith and fact, and how science and religion are not meant to answer the same questions.
