NBC's broadcast of the NFL's Thursday Night Football game took on the feel of a video game last night as they used the Sky View or "Madden" camera angle, above and behind the Quarterback, predominantly.

San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after his team's first win of the season "I don't have a plan yet" for when he'll move Jimmy Garoppolo into the starting Quarterback job... But Coach Madden says "that's coach speak".

The NFL remains popular but, on his regular Friday morning interview on KCBS Radio Former Oakland Raiders Head Coach John Madden said that while the league's younger fans still follow the stats, they don't find the matchups compelling enough to sit and watch all day.

It was another disappointing NFL weekend for the Bay Area teams as the Raiders (3-5) lost to the Bills in Buffalo and the 49ers (0-8) went down to the Eagles in Philadelphia.

The season have been especially disappointing for the Raiders who were a trendy pick for the Super Bowl before the season started.

On his regular Monday morning interview on KCBS Radio Former Oakland Raiders Head Coach John Madden said the Raiders "are not playing close to a playoff team now." "They just have to work on getting first downs, controlling the ball, scoring a little more, playing better defense, tackling better, I mean those types of things" MADDEN said "Playoffs are in the distance now, I think."

LeSean McCoy had a season-best 151 yards rushing and also scored on a 48-yard run in the Buffalo Bills' 34-14 rout of the Raiders. Rookie linebacker Matt Milano scored on a 40-yard fumble return, one of four turnovers by Oakland. Tyrod Taylor threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Andre Holmes and scored on a 1-yard run.

The NFL season is now at the halfway point. Madden says the best team in the AFC right now to him is New England Patriots. In the NFC he likes the Seattle Seahawks and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles moved to 7-1 on the season with a 33-10 victory over the 49ers. Carson Wentz was 18 of 32 for 211 yards and two touchdowns, including a 53-yard scoring strike to Alshon Jeffrey. Wentz leads the NFL with 19 TD passes, most by an Eagles quarterback through eight games.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco received a concussion from the hit to the head in Thursday night's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Flacco had slid onto the turf when he has hit high by Miami linebacker Kiko Alonso. Flacco's helmet was ripped from his head, and he appeared woozy when he got to his feet.

Alonso was flagged for unnecessary roughness. Flacco was taken from the field and never returned.

On his regular Friday morning interview on KCBS Radio Former Oakland Raiders Head Coach John Madden said hits like that have no place in football.

Madden says quarterbacks should follow policies similar to what's required of recievers without defense. 

 "If you do that, it's the defensive's guys fault," Madden says. "There's no, 'He slid too late.' That's a bunch of baloney."

Baltimore went on to win the game 40-0 to make their record 4-4 on the season.

The Dallas Cowboys dominated the trenches on both sides of the ball in their blowout of the San Francisco 49ers, dropping the team to 0-7.

Derek Carr's game winning touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree on the final play of the game helped snap the Raiders’ four game losing streak.  The score came after two defensive holding penalties gave the Raiders two un-timed downs to extend the game.

Bethard threw for 245 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He's a third-round pick out of Iowa and grandson of former Redskins general manager Bobby Beathard.
