The NFL is keeping an eye on the wildfires in the North Bay and has been exploring options to move Sunday's game between the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers if it becomes necessary.

On John Madden's mind when he spoke live on KCBS Radio Monday morning:  memories of time spent in Santa Rosa during Raiders training camps when he coached the team.

Through the first five games of the NFL season, 40-year-old New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady has already been sacked more times than he was all of last season. Former Oakland Raiders Head Coach John Madden says Tom Brady and all NFL Quarterbacks are getting hit too much this season. But, it's not all the fault of the offensive lines.

The Bay Area's football teams may not be faring well in the NFL these days, but overall, football season has been a good one - according to Coach Madden.

Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdown passes, and the injury-riddled Green Bay Packers converted three turnovers into scores in an eventful 35-14 victory over the mistake-prone Chicago Bears on Thursday night.

Last week, Coach Madden speculated, along with many others, that the Oakland Raiders would do well against the Washington Redskins.  But, that didn't come to fruition, as evidenced by the team's 27-10 loss over the weekend.

The defense was supposed to be the San Francisco 49ers' strength, not the offense. But, Thursday night, it was the other way around.

John was especially glad to see the Raiders' running game. Has goal line play become nothing but passing in the NFL?
