ELIHU ASSERTS GOD'S JUSTICE (0:30) "Hear my words you wise men, words are tested by the ear as food is tasted by the mouth. (1:09) Let us make the decision for ourselves as to what is right; let us know among ourselves what is good.

(1:20) For Job has said, 'I am in the right, and God has taken away my right; in spite of my right I am counted a liar; my wound is incurable, though I have done no wrong.’

(1:47) What man is like Job who drinks up scoffing like water, who freely makes sport of God and walks with wicked men? (2:05) For he has said that it’s no profit to a man to take delight in God. (2:15) Therefore take note. Let it be far from God to do evil, and from the Ruler of all to do wrong. (2:39) For He gives to every man the reward of his work, and sees that he gets the fruit of his ways. Truly, God does not do evil, the Ruler of all will not pervert justice and is not a false judge.

(3:04) Who put the earth into his care, or made him responsible for the world? If he made his spirit come back to him, taking his breath into himself again, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust.

(3:33) If you have understanding, hear this: Shall one who hates justice govern? Will you say that the upright Ruler of all is evil? He who says to a king “you are an evildoer”, who shows no partiality to princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?

(4:20) In a moment they die; at midnight the people are shaken and pass away, and the mighty are taken away by no human hand. (4:38) For his eyes are on the ways of a man, and he sees all his steps. There is no deep darkness where evildoers may hide themselves.

(4:58) For God does not give man a fixed time to come before him to be judged. He shatters the mighty without investigation and puts others in their place.

(5:20) He overturns their works in the night, and they are crushed. He strikes them for their wickedness in a place for all to see, because they turned aside from following him (5:34) (5:53) They caused the cries and prayers of the poor to come to him.

(6:03) But if God is quiet, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet he is over the individual and the nation alike, so that the godless man should not rule, and not lay snares for the people (NET)

(6:31) Has anyone said to God: “Teach me what I cannot see. If I have done evil, I will do so no more”? (6:53) Is it your opinion that God should recompense it, because you reject this? But you must choose, and not I, therefore declare to us what you know.

(7:11) Men of understanding and all wise men hearing me will say: Job speaks without knowledge; his words are without insight and are not the fruit of wisdom.

(7:30) May Job be tested to the end, because his answers have been like those of evil men. For he adds rebellion to his sin, he makes sport and multiplies his words against God.

Job 35 ELIHU CONDEMNS JOB (8:02)

(8:23) Does it seem to you to be right, and righteousness before God, to say: ‘What profit is it to me, and how am I better off than if I had done wrong?’ (8:36) I will answer you and your friends with you. Look at the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds, which are higher than you…(9:11) If you are upright, what do you give to him? or what does he take from your hand?

(9:29) Because of the multitude of oppressions people cry out; they call for help because of the arm of the strong. (9:49) But no one says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?' (10:03) There they cry out, but he does not answer, because of the pride of evil men. Surely God does not give ear to what is false.

(10:28) How much less when you say that you do not see him, that the case is before him, and you are waiting for him! (10:34) And now, because He relents, Job opens his mouth to no purpose. In empty talk of no profit he multiplies words without knowledge.

(2:12) No obstante, es el espíritu en el hombre, el soplo del Todopoderoso, que le hace entender. No son los mayores los sabios, ni los viejos los que disciernen lo justo (2:49) Ya oí vuestras razones y no hay quién redarguya a Job y refute sus argumentos.

(3:18) No vais a decir: Hemos hallado sabiduría y Dios lo refutará, no el hombre. Puesto que Job no dirigió a mí sus palabras, tampoco le responderé con vuestras razones. (3:46) Se espantaron, no respondieron más; se les fueron las hablas y los razonamientos. ¿He de callar porque ellos no dicen más? (4:39) Más bien declararé mi opinión.

(4:16) Porque lleno estoy de palabras, y el espíritu de mi corazón me constriñe. Mi corazón está como vino sin respiradero. Hablaré pues y respiraré. No haré acepción de personas, a ningún hombre adularé; o que mi Hacedor me consuma.

Job 33 (5:09) ELIÚ AMONESTA A JOB

(5:50) Job, oye ahora mis razones y escucha todas mis palabras. Mis razones declararán la rectitud de mi corazón, mis labios proferirán pura sabiduría. El espíritu de Dios me hizo, y la inspiración del Omnipotente me dio vida. Si acaso puedes, respóndeme. He aquí que yo estoy, como tú, ante Dios; yo también fui formado de barro…

(6:33) (6:50) De cierto tú dijiste: “Yo soy limpio y sin rebelión; y soy inocente, y no hay maldad en mí. He aquí que Dios buscó achaques (halla pretextos) contra mí, y me tiene por su enemigo; puso mis pies en el cepo, y vigila todas mis sendas."

(7:10) (7:45) En esto no tienes razón ni has hablado justamente, porque Dios es más grande que el hombre…pero Dios, en una o en dos maneras, habla al que no ve: Por sueño de visión nocturna…Él revela su castigo para destruir la arrogancia del varón. Así detendrá su alma de corrupción, y su vida de ser pasada a cuchillo.

(8:22) (9:17) También sobre su cama es castigado con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos, hasta que su vida aborrece el alimento y su alma, su comida favorita. Su carne se consume hasta dejar de ser vista, y aparecen sus huesos que no se veían…

(8:41) (9:05) Si tuviera cerca de él algún elocuente anunciador muy escogido, que anuncie al hombre su justicia; que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia, que lo libró de descender al sepulcro, que halló redención; se enternecerá su carne más que de niño, y volverá a los días de su juventud. Orará a Dios, y le amará, y verá su faz con júbilo; y él dará al hombre el pago de su justicia. Cantaría entre los hombres diciendo: "Yo había pecado y pervertido lo recto, y no me fue retribuido.

(9:39) Oh, si hubiese a su lado un ángel, un intercesor, uno entre mil, para declarar al hombre lo que le es recto, y que al ser favorecido por la gracia, dijese: "Líbralo de descender a la fosa, pues le he hallado rescate. Entonces su carne volvería a ser más tierna que en su adolescencia, y volvería a los días de su juventud. Oraría a Dios, y le sería favorable. Vería su rostro con gritos de júbilo, y Dios restituiría al hombre su justicia…Dios redimirá su alma, que no pase al sepulcro, y su vida se verá en luz.

(10:28) (10:56) He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios dos y tres veces con el hombre; para restaurar su alma de la fosa y para iluminarlo con la luz de la vida. Escucha, Job, y óyeme; calla, y yo hablaré. Y si tuvieres palabras, respóndeme; habla, porque yo te quiero justificar…Y si no, óyeme tú a mí; calla, y te enseñaré sabiduría.

(1:15) Si anduve con mentira, y si mi pie se apresuró a engaño, entonces que Dios me pese en la balanza de justicia, y conozca así mi integridad. Si mi paso se apartó del camino y mi corazón se fue en pos de mis ojos, o si alguna mancha se pegó a mis manos, que otro coma lo que yo siembre, y mis verduras sean arrancadas.

(1:58) (2:18) Si mi corazón ha sido seducido con respecto a una mujer, y si he acechado a la puerta de mi prójimo, entonces que muela para otro mi mujer, y sean otros los que se inclinen sobre ella. Porque es maldad e iniquidad comprobada, aquello sería una infamia y un delito digno de castigo. Porque es fuego que devoraría hasta el sepulcro, y desarraigaría toda mi hacienda. Sería un fuego que devorase hasta la completa destrucción, y desarraigaría toda mi producción.

(3:17) (3:34) Si estorbé el contento de los pobres, e hice desfallecer los ojos de la viuda; si he comido mi bocado yo solo y no ha comido de él también el huérfano, aunque desde mi juventud creció conmigo el huérfano como con padre, y desde el vientre de mi madre fui guía de la viuda, (3:49) si he visto a alguien perecer por falta de vestido y del vellón de mis ovejas no se calentaron; si he alzado mi mano contra el huérfano cuando me vi apoyado en el tribunal, (4:20) mi espalda se caiga de mi hombro, desgájese del hombro mi brazo, y sepárese mi brazo de mi antebrazo. Porque he temido el castigo de Dios, contra cuya majestad yo no podría actuar.

(4:43) Si puse en el oro mi esperanza, si me he alegrado porque era grande mi riqueza o porque mi mano haya logrado tanto, (5:07) si he mirado al sol cuando resplandecía, y a la luna cuando iba hermosa, y en secreto fue seducido mi corazón y mi boca les envió un beso con la mano, esto también habría sido un delito digno de castigo; porque habría negado al Dios de lo alto.

(5:38) Si me alegré en el quebrantamiento del que me aborrecía, y me regocijé cuando le halló el mal (yo no he entregado mi boca al pecado pidiendo su vida con imprecación), (6:00) cuando mis domésticos decían: ¡Quién nos diese de su carne! Nunca nos hartaríamos (también abría mis puertas al caminante) (6:25) Si cual Adán encubrí mis transgresiones escondiendo en mi seno mi iniquidad (pues estaba alarmado de la gran multitud y me atemorizaba el desprecio de las familias, de modo que callé y no salí a mi puerta...)] (6:54)

But where can wisdom be found, and where is understanding located?

No one can know its value, since it cannot be found in the land of the living.

(3:00) The ocean depths say, "It's not in me," while the sea declares, "I don't have it."

Gold cannot be exchanged for it, and silver cannot be weighed out for its price.

Wisdom cannot be valued in the gold of Ophir, in precious onyx or lapis lazuli.

Gold and glass do not compare with it, and articles of fine gold cannot be exchanged for it.

The departed spirits tremble beneath the waters and all that inhabit them. Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon has no covering. (2:46) He stretches the northern skies over empty space; he hangs the earth on nothing. He wraps up the water in his clouds, yet the clouds do not burst beneath its weight. He obscures the view of his throne, spreading his cloud over it. He laid out the horizon on the surface of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness. The pillars that hold up the sky tremble, astounded at his rebuke. By his power he stirred the sea, and by his understanding he crushed Rahab.

(3:49) By his breath the heavens gained their beauty; his hand pierced the fleeing serpent. These are but the fringes of his ways; how faint is the word we hear of him! Who can understand his mighty thunder?

Job 27 (4:22) JOB CONTINUES: I WILL MAINTAIN MY INTEGRITY (4:32) As God lives, who has deprived me of justice, and the Almighty who has made me bitter, as long as my breath is still in me and the breath from God remains in my nostrils, my lips will not speak unjustly, and my tongue will not utter deceit.

I will not conceal what the Almighty has planned. All of you have seen this for yourselves, why do you keep up this empty talk? This is a wicked man's lot from God, the inheritance the ruthless receive from the Almighty:

(7:04) Even if his children increase, they are destined for the sword; his descendants will never have enough food. Those who survive him will be buried by the plague, yet their widows will not weep for them. Though he piles up silver like dust and heaps up fine clothing like clay—he may heap it up, but the righteous will wear it, and the innocent will divide up his silver.
