If Trump was letting these horrible things happen, we'd feel outraged and upset. We might even feel obliged to get up and go protest the things he is doing, which as we all know can often cause us to miss brunch. But because a trusted Democrat is in office, we can just relax and think pleasant thoughts and drink bottles of wine and Nyquil in the bathtub.

Aviator sunglasses hide demented eyes

in a skull full of bank logos and forgotten AIPAC speeches,

boozy nights of rapefinger whisperings and Beltway balrogs,

and fundraising wisecracks with smiles made of Gaddafi's bones,

brain now crowded with paper shredders

and frantic, sweaty interns

staying up all night working

to dispose of the evidence.

Aviator sunglasses with glowing pentagons in them,

with mountains of skulls in them,

with dismembered children in them,

with gutted babies in them,

with screaming mothers in them,

with burning flesh in them,

with flattened neighborhoods in them,

crushed limbs sticking out of rubble in them,

fathers carrying tiny bags of body parts in them,

laughing, mocking, blood-soaked soldiers in them,

bombs and food falling from the sky together in them.

Demented eyes gazing out upon a dying world

through aviator sunglasses full of dead faces,

skin illuminated by a burning sky,

licking an ice cream cone

that is dripping deep red.

Kids are taking over university campuses around the world for the noblest possible reason anyone could do such a thing in 2024. There are so many reasons to feel pessimistic, but Gen Z's fierce opposition to the Gaza genocide is a massive reason to have hope for the future.

The Biden administration has reportedly canned its plans to issue sanctions on an extremist IDF unit for human rights violations in the occupied West Bank, following backlash from Israel and its high-powered supporters within the US government.

Empire managers and propagandists are losing their minds about student protests against the genocide in Gaza on university campuses, so naturally we're seeing a mad push to frame this as the result of interference by Russia, China, Iran and Hamas.

I mean, you kind of have to wonder what they're thinking. "Yeah, that's it. Violently quash pro-Palestine protests at universities, ban TikTok to ensure the suppression of pro-Palestine content, and saturate the boomer media with obvious propaganda. That'll make the kids love Israel."

All the frenzied shrieking about pro-Palestine protests at universities these last few days makes it clear that our civilization is so twisted and insane that it sees protesting a genocide as far worse than committing one. Which is about as backwards as any society could possibly be.
