Hari Om and good morning. Today, we take a few moments together to see a tiny picture of death. When we are married to time and space as absolute, everything is dying at any moment. We meted out our lives in counted breaths.
"I have measured out my life in coffee spoons." - T.S. Eliot - The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
This counting away of our breaths is a sure way to fear death as it encroaches, taking us bit by bit. And, what it also happening is we are in the vehicle that is taking us from here to there. That is all. Just going along on the journey from where ever we think we are, to where ever we think we are going, until we arrive at where ever we think think we need to be. It is an amazing dance, and takes every bit of time we get. But, below it all, beneath the time, and beyond the gates of our perceptions, there is a timeless truth that there is no death, not really. There are only wafts of smoke in the air, containing entire places in a scent. This is where we are.
