Welcome to Season Three of the "Journeying with the Saints" podcast. This season will be reading through St. Teresa of Avila's book, "The Interior Castle." Before we dive in, I want to take this episode to introduce you to St. Teresa, how the podcast will work this season, and the preface of her book.
Today, we finish Season Two with our last reading from Bishop Fulton Sheen's book, "Way to Inner Peace."
Thank you, Catholic Pilgrims, for following along this year as we've explored the writings of Bishop Fulton Sheen. I think our last reading really encompasses all that we've learned. In a world that has, in many ways, lost its Faith, Bishop Sheen reminds us that we are made for God and relationship with Him.
Please join me for Season Three where we will be reading St. Teresa of Avila's "The Interior Castle."
This is our second to last reading!
This week we are reading the 58th number from "Way to Inner Peace." Easter is the end-all and be-all of our Christian Faith. I have met a few people in my life who deny the Resurrection of Christ while calling themselves a Christian. But, to be a Christian, you must believe in the reality of the Resurrection. Bishop Sheen is going to talk about how even the Apostles doubted the Resurrection, at first, because they weren't expecting it. They had to be convinced of it. Even Christ's closest companions struggled with it at first.
Three Key Points: Doubt, trust, and truth
Only two more readings after this one.
This week we are reading the 57th number from "Way to Inner Peace." Today we are going to be talking about reason. Reason seems in short supply these days. Every once in awhile, someone shows up on my social media pages that struggles to accept truth and doesn't want to use reason. Our culture says that you can't really find the truth of anything, everything is relative. However, God gives each one of us the gift of reason and it's meant to be cultivated and used.
Three Key Points: Insight, light, and discoveries.
Only four more readings from Bishop Sheen!
This week we are reading the 56th number from "Way to Inner Peace." One of my biggest faults is that I allow my moods to control me sometimes. I have gotten better, because I have learned from my husband to "fix my face." If our kids are being sad and grumpy, he tells them to fix their attitude. Incredibly, they fix their attitude pretty swiftly. I'm learning from my kids and striving to be better about it. This week's topic is on moods.
Three key points: Trials, cares, and attitudes.
