These words penetrate deep as we reflect on the lives of 35 women in Australia this year who have lost their lives from the action of men. We are not here to compare men to bears, the internet has already made that comparison abundantly clear, we are here to stop this number from increasing, and god forbid repeating.

Sherele Moody is an award winning journalist who has spent more than 20 years as a reporter and is leading the way in reporting violence against women and children. She has developed the Red Heart Campaign, The Australian Femicide and Child Death Map and The Memorial To Women And Children Lost to Violence.

They kicked off QUILTBAG Storytime with ‘And Tango makes Three’ by Peter Parnell & Justin Richardson, which is illustrated by Henry Cole.

Published in 2005, the book tells the story of two male penguins, Roy and Silo, who create a family together. With the help of the zookeeper, they are given an egg which they help hatch. The female chick, that completes their family, is named Tango.

This children book is based off of a true story.

After learning that many elderly queer people feel they have to go back into the closet as they get older, journalist Julie Peters decided to find out why.
