Love… what’s science got to do , got to do with it!

With Valentine’s day last week, folks have had love on the brain including the science community, who once again have found evidence of some of the ways love changes our brains.

To dive into fuzzy little rodents and more ways in which they can burrow their tiny little snoots into our hearts, Rach & Dean are joined by the fabulous singing scientist Cat Nguyen.

We love to celebrate marriage equality wherever it happens, and on Friday when Rach & Dean finished the show, they stepped out of the studio to discover that Greece had become the first Orthodix Christian Country to legalise same sex marriage.

But what exactly does that mean?

Last week Greeces Parliament voted 176 to 76 to pass the bill which not only legalised same sex marriage, but also allowed same-sex couples to legally adopt children.

They are joined by John Tzimas from Victoria’s Greek and Gay Support Network to break down exactly what this means.

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Sahara Beck has just dropped her eagerly awaited album, ‘All Attention On Your Emotions’ and has hit the road for a national Australian tour – including a special one night performance here at Chapel Off Chapel.

Two fabulous queer artists from Sydney who are both powerful, proud and fierce representatives of their culture as well as being fantastic entertainers joined Rach & Dean on JOY Breakfast.

Many of you may know Ivory Glaze from season 3 of Drag Race Down Under, 50% Chinese, 50% Dutch and 100% gorgeous and in four short years of performing in drag she has crafted a space for herself that isn’t just about club nights and cabaret, but modelling as well.

We also welcome back to JOY Breakfast the self described Gaysian empress of Sydney Dyan Tai, who, this time is wearing a little less makeup, and makes amazing electronic hyperpop music that is fused with Beijing opera and traditional Southeast Asian Soundscapes.

They talk Lunar New Year ahead of performing at Pride of our Footscray and Tai’s new track Ni Hao.

Iconic JOY bestie Dannii Minogue sings it best when she sings “I will love you better when I’m loving myself” in her new self love confidence boost “Thinkin’ bout us”, but Dannii’s vocals are made only better with the sparkling keys and bouncing basslines thanks to  DJ Producer Autone, who Dannii personally talks up at any chance.

If you missed out on Taylor Swift tickets like so many people did, never fear because Fed Square are hosting a free all ages concert starring Taylor Sheesh, the internet sensation and Filipino drag impersonator as part of Summer at the Square.

A superfan that has now become a worldwide sensation, Taylor Sheesh has been impersonating Taylor Swift at shopping centres and stadiums across the Philippines, and their Errors tour has driven audiences wild.

Ahead of their first Australian performance tonight at Federation Square, Rach & Dean are blessed to be joined by Taylor Sheesh on JOY Breakfast.

Apparently Dean & Rach are meant to go to sleep by 9am to get the right amount of sleep per night…. but that aint happening!

Every one of us deserves to be respected for who we are.

We know that practices that seek to change or suppress a person’s sexuality or gender identity cause real and lasting harm, whether they occur in a  religious or health space.

We don’t have a national ban on conversion “therapy” in Australia yet, it is banned in three states and territories, ACT, VIC & QLD. A draft bill introduced in Tasmania at the end of last year has been called out as worse than useless by Equality Tasmania.

Equality Australia are calling on people to currently sign a petition that would put an end to conversion practices in NSW, and in South Australia, South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance is leading the charge for a ban on conversion practices in the state.

Joining Rach and Dean on special prerecord interview with Cal Hawk as part of the show for JOY Breakfast Jace Reh shares his experience with Conversion Practices, just as he did in the paper last week, in a hope to get the conversation moving on changing the laws regarding conversion practices.

Launched during the Midsumma Festival, a new campaign in the city of Yarra shines a light on members of Yarra’s LGBTIQA+ communities, celebrating their diversity, joy and strength.

With posters and video’s, the Queer Is… campaign asks the community to share with them what it means to be queer in Yarra, telling their stories and sharing their experiences in their own words.
