Last night they had a really great show with conversations with two international rubber titlholders who are both people of color, Preston and Pusckatt, and the show had a great conversation responding to racism in the kink and fetish community and improving inclusion for BIPOC folk.

Vaneet Mehta is an Indian bisexual man born and raised in Southall, West London. In 2020, his campaign, #BisexualMenExist, went viral, highlighting that yes, men who identify under the bi plus umbrella actually do exist. 

Vaneet has written for Men’s Health, Stonewall, Metro UK, and Unicorn Magazine and is the author of ‘Bisexual Men Exist: A Handbook for Bisexual, Pansexual and M-Spec Men’ 

As part of the Stand Bi Us Conference happening online this weekend, he’ll be participating in a discussion session about his journey and his book which was published earlier this year, and he joins Michele & Dean for JOY Breakfast to tell them all about it.

Brisbane Prides Fair Day is happening this weekend, it’s a day of celebration of diverse genders and sexualities, where the LGBTIQ+ community and allies come together for a day filled with performances, live music, cultural showcases, and more.

Juniper Muller; a queer, nonbinary psychologist specializing in gender, sex, and sexuality joins Rach and Dean on JOY Breakfast to discuss 2 documents that the Melbourne Bisexual Network are launching this week ahead of Stand Bi Us Forum 2023, which brings passionate bi+ activists all around Australia who’re sharing their insights and stories. 

The documents look at “Intimate partner violence & Bi+inclusive practice report” & “Bi the Way – Bi+ inclusive guidelines”.

Hollywood loves queer stories, but apparently not queer actors.

While we love seeing LGBTQ+ narratives on screen, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that a lot of film and television’s most well-known & awarded queer roles more often than not go to non-queer actors.

It’s a step in the right direction to see more and more LGBTQ+ stories, but we still have a long, long way to go when it comes to representation.

Bisexuality+ Awareness Week Kicks off on JOY Breakfast with Rach in the studio with John ‘Deeksy’ Deeks who explains his coming out journey. Ange Barry, CEO of JOY Media, joins Rach and Deeksy and talks about her journey from being married to a man to identifying as lesbian to her eventual realisation that our sexuality doesn’t need to be binary and now sits comfortably as a Pan-sexual. As a 72 year old Deeksy shares his coming out at a young age and the acceptance of his mother and sisters with his relationships with both women and men.

Bi Visibility Week runs from September 16th to 23rd to de-stigmatise bisexuality+ in the community and spread the joy of the diverse bi+ community. The celebration promotes cultural acceptance of the bisexual community and creates a platform for advocating bisexual rights.
