  • Boy of Steel - Smallville, a retrospective

    SOMEBODY SAVE MEEEEEE! If you're a fan of SMALLVILLE you likely sang this tune along with Remy Zero for 10 seasons in one the best DC shows ever created. Starring Tom Welling as a young Clark Kent in the Superboy tale we never knew we wanted cause it was the boy without the super in many ways. Showcasing his formative years in the Kansas town of Smallville. The show featured a cast that we grew up with and fell in love with in their roles as the pivotal and life shaping people in young Clarks' life. From his loving parents Jonathan and Martha Kent played by Annette O' Toole and John Schneider. To the first love Lana Lang played by Kristin Kreuk. Then you have Michael Rosenbaum as the ultimate Lex Luthor and the sad fall from grace beginning as a friend to Clark. The show was near and dear to many who couldn't wait to see the boy finally become the Superman he was destined to be. It was filled with many unforgettable moments and it's been 20 years since October 2001 debut and JAFN sees this as the perfect opportunity to visit our favorite town in middle America!

As we begin our Halloween spooky season kick-off we wanted to approach the most charming villain we can think of. And not just the Anthony Hopkins version but easily the next best incarnation in Mads Mikkelsen from the NBC series Hannibal. We're also going to touch on the 2 other incarnations of Hannibal there have been on-screen from Manhunter and Hannibal Rising not mention the books. So we won't keep you waiting any longer that would be well - rude and we all know what Dr. Lecter does with the rude. "Ready when you are Sgt. Pembry..."

    We heard a joke once, man goes to doctor - says he's depressed, life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in threatening world. Doctor says treatment is simple the great clown Pagliacci was in town, go see him, that should pick you up. Man bursts into tears but doctor he says I am Pagliacci. Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains. Or so it only seemed for the classic The Watchmen that is until the excellent 2019 HBO series WATCHMEN starring Regina King as the exceptional Angela Abar aka Sister Night! In what could be considered a direct sequel to the famous graphic novel this series lives up to the hype! While we're a little late to the dance we certainly cannot wait to chop this one up with you Friday Nighters! Grab some beers or better yet some beans and find out that it's US who watches Watchmen!

The main thing we love about the Man of Steel is what he represents and he wears it right there on his chest - hope. He's the leader of the Justice League and someone we can all aspire to be more like. Join us as we celebrate easily one of the most globally recognized superheroes! Hailing from Metropolis by way of Smallville - the Man of Tomorrow, you might know him as Clark Kent of the Daily Planet - but to us he's just our hero - SUPERMAN!
