Happy 4th of July Friday Nighters! This time last year we rang in the celebration of America's birth with a tale from a handful of our favorite fireworks. One of our favorite comic book writers Garth Ennis and one of our favorite characters Frank Castle aka The Punisher. In our episode BORN on the 4th of July we recanted the tale of Frank's tragic third tour in Vietnam and how it played a significant part in the man he was to become. For this 4th of July we wanted to continue the tradition with yet another Ennis/Castle tale. In THE PLATOON we get to hear the story of the very first Lt. Frank Castle tour in Vietnam. In it we see a much different man than the unstoppable killing machine we know The Punisher to be. Garth Ennis handling Frank Castle is like Scorcese with DeNiro or DiCaprio. It's like Ryan Reynolds being Deadpool or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Its Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa. Some things just go perfect together. All great questions but we collect for the love of the game and most likely we will pass our collections on. He puts the book through a process called pressing and cleaning. We're going to talk to him all about the process and how it works. And most importantly how it can increase the value. Instead we are speaking on monumental decades in the WWF. The Rock & Wrestling era of 1984 - 1991 and the infamous Attitude era from 1997 - 2003. We could easily say the 80s vs. 90s of WWF wrasslin'! And you're not reading a typo because at this time there was no WWE it was only known as the WWF and since we're not under contract we are going to call it as it was! SO which era did you value more? Which was more influential?? Which do you think played the greater part in the overall success of the WWF and Vince McMahon??? Two titans in the pop culture industry - two icons without whom the very backbone of so called geek-culture would not exist. Born on opposite coasts of the United States, 22 years apart. Their work did not lay the foundation for pop culture enthusiasts IT IS the foundation for pop culture. The two men were discussing - Stan "The Man" Lee and "Emperor" George Lucas. The men you could say without we would not have neither the Marvel Universe and most certainly not the Star Wars universe. And that's not even their entire bodies of work! Our question tonight though who created the more significant pop culture universe. This question will divide fans but the only real answer is to love them both equally like your own children!
