We make so many plans yet we find ourselves sabotaging any momentum we have built. Not just once, but again and again and again. This feels like absolute sh*t! Leaving you to the conclusion that you are just destined to fail.
This is far from the truth.
The self that is sabotaging is an aspect of you that perceives your goal as a threat. A threat to your current identity and way of life.
You have to do shadow work to find out which part of you sabotaging what you want. This allows you to see the fear and understand what it is really going on within you, rather than just labeling and judging yourself as “lazy”.
Let me give you an example of money.
You wish to create financial freedom in your life. You know exactly what you need to do to create that yet, you find yourself paralysed when it comes to taking those steps.
There is a part of you that perceives financial freedom as a threat. Why? Money = power and power is dangerous.
As a child you may have witnessed your father who was the money man - he always had the last say. Your mother was constantly left in silence and feeling powerless. So you promised to never be like him.
Now 20 years later, your relationship with money is nonexistent. No matter how many books you read on it or how many videos you watch, you can’t seem to change your reality.
So what is happening here?
To be loved and accepted by your mother, a part of you is self-sabotaging any efforts you make towards financial freedom to make sure you don’t become the man you promised to never be like.
So a part of you fears that if you do become financially free, you will also lose your mum. I know, it’s mad!
So next time you catch yourself saying ‘I’m just lazy’, think again.
Tune into this episode to find out how you can heal this.
