Just Some Hawk Guy

Big Ten Media Days wrapped up on Thursday. What were the B1GGEST takeaways on #Iowa?

Eliot, Adam and Ross hit on what we heard from Kirk Ferentz and the players about the #Hawkeyes pre-camp depth chart, including John Nestor being CB1, Marco Lainez over Brendan Sullivan, Jarriett Buie as a starting receiver, and more.

Plus, does Iowa have a real shot to make it to the first 12-team College Football Playoff?

What if you could ask #Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz ONE question about the upcoming season and you were guaranteed to get a completely honest answer? Eliot, Adam and Ross have got a couple fun ones for you.

Plus, who will be the #Hawkeyes QB1 this season? Cade McNamara believes Brendan Sullivan was brought in for depth purposes, and Sullivan says he hasn't been told whether he's presumed QB2 or expected to compete for snaps this season.

For the first pod repping Hawkeye Beacon, Eliot, Adam and Ross breakdown everything from the latest Iowa men's and women's basketball media availabilities.

By the sounds of things, Lucy Olsen may step up in a big way for the Hawkeyes this winter. Though she certainly won't be the next Caitlin Clark, there's a mold for her to follow in Iowa City. Plus, the freshmen are coming in and competing, including new big Ava Heiden and others.

On the men's side, defense and athleticism have greatly improved with the additions of Drew Thelwell, Seydou Traore and Chris Tadjo. How much do those additions affect the depth on Fran McCaffery's squad, whether Brock Harding will share the court with Thelwell, how important it is that Owen Freeman gained 20 pounds over the offseason and more.
