Elizabeth Smart was 14 when she was taken from her from by a man who her family had tried to help out during a hard time. After getting paid to do work on the home he came back at a later date to kidnap Elizabeth. Thanks to her smart thinking and her sisters brave recount of what happened Elizabeth was able to escape. Now she empowers survivors in a way that is too remarkable to imagine.

Thomas Cullen Davis is an American oil heir from Fort Worth, Texas. In November 1977, he was acquitted on a charge related to the August 1976 shooting deaths of his stepdaughter and of his estranged wife's boyfriend. In November 1979, he was again acquitted on charges of soliciting several murders, including those of his wife and of his divorce case's judge. These people and the life they live doesn't seem real, but as Krystle tells us this week it is unfortunately real.

The Family International is a cult that was formed by David Berg and Karen Zerby. They attracted members by "Flirty Fishing" which was a fancy term for having sexual relationships with people in order to get them to follow their way of life. This case Lacy will discuss the cult but. also focus on three of the children who were used as experiments for sexual abuse within the family. Davidito or Ricky Rodriguez was the child of Karen Zerby who they deemed "the prophet" and he starting enduring sexual abuse at 10 months old. A book was published along with letters to teach the rest of the members how to raise their children.

Girlie was a smart and beautiful young woman with her whole life ahead of her. She unfortunately fell in love with the wrong person. When in abusive or just dangerous situations it is important to get out right away. Unfortunately for Girlie even though she made every right step and took every precaution it wasn't enough to escape. Cult mentality is so strong, and the people influenced will do everything in their power to live the life they think they're supposed to. In Girlies case her ex husband was the one with the cult obsession and Girlie ended up paying the price.

WELCOME TO SPOOKY SEASON!!
This week Krystle kicks off our month of ghost stories starting with Myrtles Plantation! The drama of The Myrtles Plantation began in 1796 when General David Bradford, also known as "Whiskey Dave" of the Whiskey Rebellion, fled the United States to avoid arrest. Bradford arrived at Bayou Sara, then a Spanish Colony, and obtained a land grant of 650 acres from the Baron de Corondelet to begin a new life. In 1820 The Myrtles was sold to his son-in-law, Judge Clarke Woodruff, who remodeled the mansion. If the stories she tells aren't enough to creep you out, head over to our social media to look at the horrifying pictures. I didn't sleep for two days.

This week Lacy tells us the life of Maury Troy Travis. This was a seemingly normal quiet child who had a normal family life and all of the advantages he needed to get ahead. The difference? at 14 he began having thoughts of torturing women. When he started college and got addicted to cocaine he began his life of crime. His victim count is unknown as he did not leave behind evidence for a lot of the women he murdered. How was he captured? This sicko decided to video the torture of the women he killed and the video was labeled "wedding day". 

The amount of information on the victims in this case is very minimal. All of his victims were sex workers who deserve to have their story told. Women of all walks of life are not less than because of how they choose to earn a living. We have to do better protecting them.
