We had a scheduling mix-up so Alan and Ellen sat down and had a chat about the thing that they’d pick if they were a Juvenalia guest, The Simpsons. This is not a rigorous history of The Simpsons, we jump around a lot and probably get things wrong but this is OUR Simpsons so let us have it.
Happy New Year. We have zero solid plans for what’s happening with Juvenalia this year but we’re sure it’ll be very exciting and good.

Hello and welcome to the Juvenalia Christmas Smalltacular 2017! We decided to take it back to basics this year. Just Alan, Ellen, and Sarah talking about some of their favourite Christmas memories and how their 2017 went. This somehow led to a solid ten minutes of chatting about how much we love the McElroys and The Adventure Zone but the rest is pretty Christmassy with talk of Mega Drives, N64s, selection boxes, carols, Carol, and lots of other stuff.
The singer who did the version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas that made Alan cry in college was Niall McCabe. Alan is sorry that he couldn’t remember Niall’s surname.
Follow Alan, Ellen, and Sarah on Twitter, we’re good and sound.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who listened, subscribed, or supported Juvenalia in any way this year. We love making this podcast and love that you’re out there listening. HAPPY CHRISTMAS! WE LOVE YOU ALL
Stephen Colfer of Dreamgun and the Dreamgun Film Reads podcast joins Alan and Ellen to talk about 2000’s The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. We talk about the weird loneliness of Majora’s Mask, loft living, ludonarrative dissonance, watching your friends play computer games, official console magazines, Pokemon tournaments, and loads of other stuff.
Alan has another podcast on the HeadStuff Podcast Network running until Christmas. It’s called Roast Chestnuts. He reviews a made for TV Christmas film with Jeanne Sutton and a special guest every week. If you like Juvenalia, you’ll like Roast Chestnuts.

Author Dave Rudden joins Alan and Sarah so that they can feel all the emotions about Terry Pratchett. This is a long one so make a pot of tea or plan a long drive somewhere. We focused mostly on the Discworld novels particularly Vimes and the witches. There’s lots of enthusing and lots of quoting from memory. Hopefully it’ll make you pick up a Discworld book or any Terry Pratchett book really. They’re pretty much all good. Enjoy.
Dave’s books Knights Of the Borrowed Dark and The Forever Court are out now. The Forever Court is nominated for Senior Children’s Book of the Year a the BGE Irish Book Awards. If you’re quick you can still vote for it here
