Hannah Mamalis is an actress, writer, and comedian. You probably know her from loads of stuff like various Dreamgun sketches, live shows, and podcasts or maybe from her Comedy Brunch which has appeared at Smock Alley and the Body & Soul Festival. You’ll definitely know her soon from her role in the upcoming film The Drummer and The Keeper, her appearances at the Vodafone Comedy Festival, and her one-woman show The Egg Is A Lonely Hunter which is running at the Dublin Fringe Festival from Sep 13-17. That was a very long intro but Hannah’s very busy and we like her.
Hannah joined Alan and Ellen to talk about Disney’s Fantasia (1940). which has intersected with her life in all kinds of extremely interesting ways. Trust me, you’ll want to listen to this one.
This episode is sponsored by the March For Choice which leaves from the Garden Of Remembrance at 2pm, September 30th.

Deirdre joined Alan and Sarah to talk about a trio of versions of The Little Mermaid, Hans Christian Andersen’s original, the Ladybird version, and of course the 1989 Disney version. The Little Mermaid has been a big, big influence on Deirdre and she has lots of really very interesting things to say about it so let’s get to it.

Happy Pride Everyone! We got the whole Juvenalia gang into the studio along with spoken word artist Vickey Curtis and The George and 2FM’s Conor Behan to celebrate. Vickey and Conor chose Juvenalia topics that were important to them as young LGBTQI+ people, The Golden Girls and Madonna’s The Immaculate Collection respectively. A grand old time was had by all.

Caroline O’Donoghue (@czaroline) is a contributing editor with The Pool and an author whose first book, Promising Young Women, will be released by Virago in early 2018. She joined Alan and Sarah to talk about 90’s sitcoms with a particular focus on Frasier. We talked a lot about David Hyde Pierce, the wonders of Daphne Moon and Lilith, metrosexuality, and the art of farce. We also jumped off into talks about Just Shoot Me, Cybil, and the effect that Friends had on a generation of Irish people. Then we finished up with a little metatalk about Juvenalia itself. It got real. Afterwards we had prosecco and bacon fries. Hopefully you’ll want to drink and eat crisps too while you’re listening.

Darach O’Séaghdha is the exceptionally nice man behind the best account on Irish Twitter @TheIrishFor. Darach’s book Motherfoclóir is out in September and we’re looking forward to it a whole lot. Go raibh maith agat.

Welcome to part two of our special April/May 2017 Titanic Extravaganza which is totally a thing. In this episode, Leonardo Di Caprio himself is joined by his pals, Tobey Maguire, Kevin Connolly, and Lukas Haas to look back at the film that kind of ruined his life for a while, Titanic. In the last episode, Alan, Ellen, and Stacy talked all about the film as fans but this time we’ll be hearing from the people who actually lived it. We’ll delve deep into Leo’s memories and we’ve also obtained exclusive audition footage, deleted scenes, and much much more. Maybe some special guests will pop by? Who knows?

Cethan Leahy is a writer, filmmaker, and illustrator. He joins Alan and Sarah to talk about the eccentric American tabloid the Weekly World News. Along the way we take some detours to talk about Irish myths. It’s nice. The Weekly World News was kind of amazing and weird and it was lots of fun to revisit it and Ed Anger and Bat Boy and all the WWN gang.

Eva Short of Silicon Republic joins Alan & Sarah to talk about Nintendo’s Animal Crossing. Did Animal Crossing prepare a generation for a lifetime of debt while working a series of menial jobs with friends who come and go without ever forging a real connection? Eva Short says yes. She also tells us all about being a pre-teen in a picture-perfect Californian town, using games to explore depression and poverty, and generally makes us want to play farming simulators forever and ever.
