South Korean lawmakers have submitted a bill to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol after he declared martial law and reversed the move hours later, triggering a political crisis in Asia's fourth-largest economy. The surprise declaration of martial law in the major U.S. ally caused a standoff with parliament, which rejected Yoon's attempt to ban political activity and censor the media. Dr. Alon Levkowitz, a Korea specialist in the Asian studies department at Bar-Ilan University, spoke to KAN reporter Naomi Segal about the developments.

Jonathan Spyer, director of research at the Middle East Forum, who has visited Syria numerous times, including a few months ago, says that the Assad’s regime, now bolstered by Iranian-backed militias from Iraq and Hizbullah fighters from Lebanon as well as the Russian air force, is not in danger of falling at this time. But, he said in an interview with Arieh O’Sullivan, the rebel’s quick capture of Allepo shows how weak the Iran-led axis has become.

A poll of Negev residents has found that despite concerns for personal safety, a majority of respondents are satisfied with their life in the region, and the primary factor that would compel them to move away are challenges in employment prospects. The survey was carried out ahead of the annual Ben Gurion Report Conference, an initiative of the Merage Foundation, that will be held December 8th at Sde Boker, and will address local and national decision-making on life in the region.  Syrian government forces have withdrawn from the city of Aleppo following an offensive by rebels opposed to the rule of President Bashar al-Assad.

The army acknowledged that rebels had entered "large parts" of the city, the country's second largest, but vowed to stage a counterattack.

The offensive marks the most significant fighting in Syria's civil war in recent years.

Latest reports say the rebel forces are now advancing on the city of Hama, further south and on the route to Damascus.

KAN's Mark Weiss spoke with Syrian expert Professor Eyal Zisser, the Vice Rector of Tel Aviv university and asked him who  are the rebel forces that captured Aleppo?
