Jewish communities around the world have rushed to the aid of Israel since the outbreak of the war. The Jewish Federations in Canada, which together represent the third largest Jewish community in the world, have since the outbreak of the war raised over 100 million Canadian dollars for aid. The World Zionist Organization has called on Jews in the Diaspora who have apartments in Israel to open them up for families who have been evacuated from the Gaza periphery. UPDATE: *Emily Hand, initially believed dead and later determined to have been abducted to the Gaza Strip, was  released from captivity on November 25th, 2023 as part of a Qatari-led mediated hostage release and temporary truce deal.*

Thomas Hand’s daughter, Emily (8), was shot dead by Hamas terrorists , who went door-to-door in  Kibbutz Be’eri, a few kilometres from the Gaza border, on October 7th, shooting anyone they could find.

Thomas, who was born in Ireland and grew up in the UK, said he was delighted when he heard his daughter had been killed because the alternative – captivity in the hands of Hamas in Gaza- was simply unthinkable.
