World Cup champions France play Morocco on Wednesday night in the 2nd semi final of the Qatar World Cup. The winners will face Argentina in Sunday night’s final.

 In Arab nations, Morocco's exploits have captured people's imaginations during the first World Cup ever held in an Arab country.

Morocco has outdone expectations by beating a succession of much higher-ranked European teams - Belgium in the group stage and then Spain and Portugal in the knockout rounds. It has laid on more than a dozen extra flights to take fans to Qatar.

In France there is also mounting excitement ahead of tonight’s game.

While the incoming government led by the Likud's Benjamin Netanyahu will have a majority of 64 seats in the 120-member Knesset, a recent poll has shown that a majority of 52 percent of Israelis are dissatisfied with the outcome of the November 1 elections. Further to that, a number of key proposals on the agenda of members of the new coalition do not have the support of the majority of Israelis, according to the November edition of the Israeli Voice Index, released by the Israel Democracy Institute. On the override clause, a majority of 54 percent of respondents think the High Court of Justice should retain the power to strike down legislation that contravenes Basic Laws. On another matter, only 29 percent of those polled support cancelling the so-called "grandchild clause"  in the Law of Return and placing restrictions on eligibility for immigration to Israel. KAN reporter Naomi Segal asked Prof. Tamar Hermann, a Senior Fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute, to explain the apparent discrepancy between the election outcome and the views that emerged from the survey.

Members of the LGBTQ community are concerned that the incoming government will move to infringe their rights and may lead to a rise in violent attacks against gay, lesbian and trans people.

Particular concern is Avi Maoz , head of the single -member Noam faction, who has been given control over school enrichment programs and , amongst over things, has promised to work to  ban the annual Gay Pride march in Jerusalem.

Israelis love to get out and hike and meet up with nature and it turns out over 10.7 million people visited Israel’s National Parks and Nature Reserves this past year.  Israel’s state-funded National Parks and Nature Reserves Authority said that even foreign tourists are back after Corona kept them away the previous two years.  Orit Steimfeld, head of the tourism and communities division in the National Parks and Nature Reserves Authority, said that they have launched a new program called “Trip Talk” for foreign visitors.

Al Jazeera has submitted what it said was detailed evidence to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague, allegedly proving that the Israel Defense Forces deliberately shot dead its reporter Shireen Abu Akleh during clashes in the West Bank in May.

Prime Minister Yair Lapid said that "no one will investigate IDF soldiers and no one will lecture us about morals in wartime, especially not Al Jazeera."KAN's Mark Weiss

Alan Baker ,  who served as legal counsel for the Foreign ministry told KAN's Mark Weiss that  the Al Jazzera move is little more than a publicity stunt.
