Through the work of the Holy Spirit we can be transformed.

At the start of every year, we have a special Sunday where we take time to consider what we believe God is saying to us for the year as a whole; what our direction is for the year. Phil Smith is a local pastor doing great things in the community, but not the traditional way. Paul is probably the most successful person in the Bible when it comes to speaking to 'foreign' cultures about Jesus. He had a certain technique. A way of going about the tricky business of telling these cultures that a Jewish man was the Son Of God, and that they should ditch all of those gods they've been worshipping for generations. He was on God's mission, and we can learn a lot about how to go about the mission God wants us on, from Paul's example.

One of the better known parables of Jesus is the story of the Good Samaritan, but the significance of what Jesus was saying, to the person He was saying it to, can easily be overlooked by us today. This was a confronting and difficult message to the person who had asked Jesus "who is my neighbour?". Put into today's culture, is the story any less significant? Is it any less difficult?
