The KCLR Farm Show, brought to you by Tirlán, broadcasts on KCLR every Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. with the programme repeated on Sunday mornings at 7:00 a.m. It is an agriculture based programme, focusing on current farming events, the people involved in farming, the Agri-sector and rural issues affecting the people of Carlow and Kilkenny. Ireland's Woodland Show takes place at Woodstock Gardens in Inistioge this Saturday and Sunday and marks the show's first staging in Kilkenny, after its previous editions in the JFK Arboretum and Kilkea Castle in Kildare.

The show is a celebration of Irish trees and all things timber with the Celtic Chainsaw Carvers sculpting creations during the show in addition of woodland talks, information stands, machinery and equipment displays, as well as mobile saw demonstrations, exhibitions, artisan crafts, food stands and carnival family activities.

Ahead of this weekend's show, KCLR's Dermot Keyes spoke to Alex Kelly, the show's manager and he began by asking Alex about the show's origins.

In the second hour of last night's broadcast from Malzard's in Stoneyford, we began with an excerpt from Dermot Keyes's interview with Fr Dan Cavanagh, the recently retired Parish Priest of Rosbercon and then heard from local residents Bob Saunders and Paddy Gaule at Malzard's.

Brian was then joined for a round table discussion by Bee O’Grady (Mountain View, Ballyhale), Laura Mason (The Coffee Stop, Inistioge) and Étaoin Holohan (Fennelly’s on Bridge Street in Callan – also part of Callan's Town Team) about the joys and challenges of running their own businesses.

Carrickshock and Kilkenny hurling great Richie Walsh was joined by fellow Stoneyford resident Adele Walsh, who both told Brian about the fantastic community-led work which has done so much to improve the profile of the village and neighbouring Ennisnag in recent years.

The lie of the land in both Kells and Thomastown were discussed in depth by Seamus Knox and Seamus Quigley respectively when speaking to Brian before our programme concluded with the thoughts of Municipal District Councillors Deirdre Cullen (FF), Joe Lyons (FG) and Joe Sheridan (FF).

In the first hour of our live broadcast from Malzard's Bar in Stoneyford, Brian Redmond spoke to Fred Malzard about running a fifth generation family business and then spoke to Claire Somers of Visit Callan about the business landscape in her native town.

Brian also spoke to Deputy Peter 'Chap' Cleere about a range of issues, including the funding of the Skylcarys drug for Friedrich's Ataxia patients and was joined by Mags Morrissey of the River Basin Management Service for a discussion about the health of the district's principal waterways.

To conclude the opening hour, Brian was joined by Windgap's Julie O’Brien, Marianne Hayes and Kate Moloney to speak about the village's remarkable resurgence since the opening of its Community Centre, Lakeside Shop and Tearooms.
