Fitting right in with our all-too-common theme of “life-stopping interruptions,” we had to take a little time off last week. Why, you might ask? Because Kevin single handedly CHEATED DEATH. Kind of.

Kevin starts off his story by describing the “odd twinge” he felt one day, and the increasingly unbearable pain that accompanied him on the drive to the hospital. Matt digs to get into the gritty details, and Kevin talks about his unexpected difficulty in the emergency room.

Then we talk about the surprising difference between morphine in the movies, and what actually happens in real life. Kevin gets a CT scan, and along with it a surprising diagnosis: a kidney stone. He talks about the process of getting the scan, and the deviously deceptive nature of his symptoms.

We round out the episode by talking about the REAL benefit of passing a kidney stone – the amazing conversation starter that comes with it. Matt gives Kevin a new title, and we speculate on how people in the past had to deal with these horrific nuisances.
