Just like Marlon Williams, we're silly, we're sexy and we're hoping we can put a smile on your face. Aotearoa, you're kind of giving Cruel Summer, but it's nothing a couple of empaths (or narcissists) giggling about our new queen M3gan and trashing Wayne Brown can't distract you from. Stay safe, look after each other and check in with your community. Everybody's welcome at Kick Ons.

Is it hyperbolic to say this is our year? We don’t care, being too much is out — deal with it. After a summer of replenishing and refocusing we are back for 2023 and honestly, we’re fucking excited. This week, we’re catching up and discussing what’s IN and what’s insert Heidi Klum voice here OUT. If the kids can do it, so can we.

While Jason is away, Steph is here to bring you the most gorgeous talent Aotearoa has to offer. Back in Aotearoa for the first time in four years, Alisa Xayalith (The Naked And Famous) joins Kick Ons for an in-depth chat about her new solo project — Superpowers. Alisa and Steph lament on their most brutal critics, what’s next for Alisa, after her long awaited homecoming. The video for Alisa’s new single ‘Devil I Know’ is out today, Meri Kirihimete to us!

Being a fan girly is a strong part of the Kick Ons brand, but we're kind of surprised our guest this week agreed to an interview, given the love bombing we've imparted upon her over the years. While Jason slaved his lil heart out for the capitalists, Steph caught up with Zoe Moon — whose new single, 'In Person' will be stuck in your head all summer long, upon it's release tomorrow. ‘In Person’ has elements of 90's nostalgia, yet stops and makes you think about how one's real life self translates in the digital age (there's some irony in that we recorded this via video link, when we're real life friends). We're really proud of our friend Zoe and can't wait to be front row at her gigs for yonks to come, and after listening to this chat, we expect you to be there with us.

After much Dilly Dally-ing, we're back! But what is Dilly and what is Dally? You'll find out. It's time to discuss The Spinoff's ranking of Whittaker's flavours, our uncharacteristic excitement at the release of Avatar but not The White Lotus — Jason's not up to date. It's a little chaotic but, it's the Christmas spirit, soz.

This week we are excited to be joined by Jess Fu. Jess has the type of CV you look at and think, I wanna be them! She’s written for all of your favourite publications and worked as a DJ on bFM and in da clubz. Now she’s the host of a new RNZ and Tahi production, Amplified. Amplified sees Jess chatting with musicians from around Aotearoa, about their creative practice and how their cultural heritage informs their art. The first four episodes are out now — RNZ is the new Netflix.

This is your personal invite to the hottest happenings around Aotearoa. Welcome to INVITE ONLY - a Kick Ons mini series that brings the countries most exciting happenings right to you.

Today you're invited to meet Jason Parker, although if you're here — there's a chance you already know him. Just when you thought you'd heard your favourite Jason Parker track, he damn well goes and releases 'crying in the club' banger, 'I Think About You'. Now, as someone who's listened to this song at least 100,000 times, I can tell you that this song culminates all of the things we love about Jason's music and is the blueprint for whatever we will hear from him next. His storytelling paints movie like scenes in the heads of his listeners, his lyrics pierce your heart with their relatability — yet they are still so specific to his own experience, trust me I lived it with him. Producer, Alyyn Tan has slayed the instrumentation which evokes dancing along, no matter where you are and in my case, leaves you gooped — that door slam, am I right? Jason and I spoke about the creation of the song, releasing his debut EP 'How To Be Lonely' and his new found love of Hokey Pokey icecream.

No need to RSVP, it's Invite Only.

It's pop culture opinion city — peak Kick Ons chaos and has a 100% laughter money back guarantee. Rock on Rock Wrens.
