  • INVITE ONLY || MO ETC.

    This is your personal invite to the hottest happenings around Aotearoa. Welcome to INVITE ONLY - a Kick Ons mini series that brings the countries most exciting happenings right to you.

    Today, you're invited to meet Mo Etc. — a fellow Te Whanganui-a-tara resident whose new single ‘Underwater’ is one for your sunny afternoon playlists. Mo Etc. describes her sound as soul-electronica, and what strikes me upon listening to her music is the graphic storytelling, stunning vocals and beautifully crafted sounds — a recipe for success. We spoke to Mo Etc. about her release, the power of working with other wāhine and the never ending mission to stop comparing yourself to others. This was a chat we walked away from full of warm fuzzies, you will too.

  • INVITE ONLY || FOLEY

    It's been about a year and a half since we last caught up with pop duo Foley. After the release of their EP 'Vacation,' Ash and Gabe headed back to the studio with a plan. The goal was to experiment, refine and discover who Foley really are. The results are, for lack of a better word — slay. Their latest release, 'Killing Me Babe,' has the funky bass line we know and love from Foley and a killer music video to match. Just four friends, one bottle of San Pellegrino and three Nelly Furtado tracks.

  • 150

    It's absolutely outrageous, but it's our 150th episode! To celebrate, we're drinking a martini, Cakes By Anna style and getting giddy with excitement about new Taylor Swift and the prospect of Carly Rae Jepsen once again cracking the mainstream. Hinge Binge takes us on a musical journey and things get a little serious when we chat about the state of affairs in arts funding in Aotearoa. Not to be soppy, but thanks for being here for 150 episodes, we love you just as much as Ru Paul loves Jujubee.

  • Don't Do It Girl ft Deva Mahal

    This is your personal invite to the hottest happenings around Aotearoa. Welcome to INVITE ONLY - a Kick Ons mini series that brings the countries most exciting happenings right to you.

    This week, you're invited to meet a Kick Ons dream guest — Deva Mahal.

    Deva really needs no introduction — she has performed alongside powerhouse artists like Etta James, Björk and Ceelo Green. Since being back in Aotearoa, Deva has been working hard releasing new music and touring the country. Her first independently released single, 'Stand In' was shortlisted for a Silver Scroll last year and 'Sister' with her Zoe Moon is still one of our top played videos. Now, she's spoiling us with a two part EP series and a national tour that kicks off on November 4th in Napier. The first single 'Run Me Through' from the first installment, 'FUTURE CLASSIC: VOL 1 – CLASSIC' was released last Friday, along with a badass music video full of power, fashion and horses.

    No need to RSVP - it’s Invite Only.

    And just like that, Kick Ons is starting yet another campaign! We’ve decided (be it spur of the moment) to get a head start on Bird Of The Year, with a three-pronged campaign — tune in to find out what at least one of those prongs is. This week, Steph takes the reigns and chats ‘The Glee Project’, how to make the perfect martini and controversially ponders, whether the Fillet O'Fish the hottest sandwich of the year (sorry Tom). • Christchurch IS Mall Culture

    This week, whilst finally enjoying her first martini, Steph rediscovers her favourite Christchurch mall. A profile in Ensemble Magazine leads to the admission that Melanie Lynskey needs more recognition in Aotearoa, plus after a night at the theatre, she's is shocked by how tall Chris Parker is in real life. Jason drops a leaked album recommendation, his Circ-De-So-Gay review, and urges you all to pre-save ‘How To Be Lonely’ — his new single. Also, we desperately need help getting Drew Ne'emia back on Spotify, it's an absolute must(apic).
