  • Kid Goggles #40: Gleaming the Cube w/ Joe Moore (actor/comedian/writer!)

Get your boards and hit those empty pools, it’s time to gleam the cube with Tony Hawk and… Christian Slater?  This 1989 cult-classic about a skateboard punk trying to solve the murder of his adopted brother features a bunch of skateboarding legends and a bunch of Pizza Hut product placement.  Philly’s own comedy legend, Joe Moore, glimpsed a world he’d only known through hand-me-down t-shirts when he binged this movie on repeat one golden weekend when his house had HBO.  Will Joe, all these years later, finally understand what it means to gleam the cube?  Will Christian Slater finally understand what it means to gleam the cube? Will ANYONE finally understand what it means to gleam the cube?

HIYA! HIYA! HIYA! Rocky, Colt, and Tum-Tum are here to kick your butts and  renew the love of karate for improviser and actress extraordinaire, Tara Demmy!  Rocky loved Emily, Tara loved Rocky, and everyone loved the kidnappers.  But can this white-washed tale of absent fathers, arms dealers, and kid ninjas still light up the eyes?  And what does special guest host, Steve Kleinedler (ep# 34), who grew up removed from the ’90s ninja-craze, have to say about this karate classic?  PLUS: Hot Takes with Engineer AJ!

Kid Goggles heads to the “Site B” of the Jurassic Park franchise with the wonderful and hilarious, Randie Welles, to talk about the sequel where Vince Vaughan is the hero, gymnastics can take out a velociraptor, and a T-Rex eats a dog in San Diego.  Plus, Matt give his vision for a utopia, AJ kills off Jeremy, and Randie talks about the book that made her love reading and made her life goal to be in a dinosaur movie.  Is it too late for her to get in on the new world Jurassic World?

  • Kid Goggles #37: Space Jam w/ Eddie Finn (stand-up!)

Here’s your chance do your dance and listen to this episode about the highest grossing basketball movie of all-time starring Michael Jordan, Bill Murray, Wayne Knight, and Shawn Bradley?  Stand-up Eddie Finn has got a lot of questions about the movie that introduced to him both professional basketball and Bill Murray. Mainly, why is Shawn Bradley a Monstar!?  KG covers it all and doesn’t miss a dunk, which is more than can be said for Marvin the Martian’s refereeing or for Shawn Bradley.  Relive this 1996 classic and find out if it still flies like an eagle, or if it crashed as hard as Shawn Bradley’s NBA career did.

  • Kid Goggles #36: House Party w/ James Knight (improv!)

Kid ‘n Play blew the roof off the Kid Goggles studio when the super-cool ‘n super-funny, James Knight, brought their movie debut, House Party.  With special guest host, Tara Demmy, and more Martin Lawrence in the mix, things got so wild that John Witherspoon was gonna call the cops, but he couldn’t remember the number.  Did James ever get the flat-top of his dreams?  What was the most uncuttable scene?  And the truth behind what really ruined the party! • Kid Goggles #35: A Very Brady Sequel w/ Hannah Trav (stand-up!)

Kid Goggles goes back to the nineties to talk about this parody and homage to the seventies’ favorite blended family now living their anachronistic life in the nineties.  That’s not half as head-scratching as some of the stuff that happens in stand-up comedian, Hannah Trav’s, childhood favorite.  Archaeological digs in Thailand, rampant incestuous tension, attempted murder, kidnapping, imposters, musical numbers, and mannequin boyfriends — this movie is wild. Plus we find out where Alice lives.

  • Kid Goggles #34: Magic (1978) w/ Steve Kleinedler (Full Frontal! PHIT Comedy!)

What better way to celebrate this week of love than with this “terrifying love story”?  But is the terrifying love story between Anthony Hopkins and Ann-Margret or Anthony Hopkins and his identically dressed ventriloquist doll, Fats?  Nothing is for certain in this under-discussed psychological thriller.  Fortunately, the KG crew got to discuss it a bunch with the fantastic improv director, instructor, and wordsmith, Steve Kleinedler.  He recounts his crude memories of the movie’s cruder elements, and George Mills (from our Pokemon ep) fills in to bring Fats to life, while Stacie gets goosebumps, and Matt gives a lesson on accent work.

  • Kid Goggles #33: The Hugga Bunch w/ Lizzie Spellman (improv!)

Everyone needs hugs, right?  Even if they come from dead-eyed puppets that have been watching you through your bedroom mirror for “a long time” from a nightmarish hellscape which they pressure you to enter lest your grandma be imprisoned in a retirement home… right? If you’re improviser-extraordinaire, Lizzie Spellman, then that answer is yes.  It’s not clear what came first: her love of hugging or her love of The Hugga Bunch, but nevertheless, this 1985 TV-movie kind of saved her life — for real.  Find out how and also find out why everyone in this movie is trying to get “squishy”, what a perplexiconic chemical miracle is, and what it means to be an American Citizen.

  • Kid Goggles #32: The Mask of Zorro w/ Derrick Robbins (Wild Dust!)

Thought KG would forget about Zorro?  That’s because you are stupid. (jk it’s a quote from the movie).  Lead singer of the rock ‘n roll band, Wild Dust, and hero of his childhood cul-de-sac, Derrick Robbins, loved Zorro so much as a kid he even donned the mask and cape himself… with hilarious results.  What does it sound like to punch out of a grave?  Why does Antonio Banderas knowingly drink water from a jug containing his brother’s severed head?  And what does Anthony Hopkins really sound like?  Also, most Welsh people in a movie about Spanish and Mexican people? PLUS: More Hot Takes with Engineer AJ!!!

  • Kid Goggles #31: Clueless w/ Matt Romans (improv!)

Think Kid Goggles would turn down a chance to visit another piece of SoCal cinema? AS IF! Part-time improviser/podcaster and full-time funnyman, Matt Romans, took KG back to the glitz of Beverly Hills for this teen-comedy classic! Between Stacey Dash’s crazy hat’s (and crazier politics), attempted mall-murders,  No Doubt, and very frightening freeways, the Hills give the gang loads to discuss.  PLUS: More Hot Takes from Engineer AJ!!
